V8skylineMAN
As some of you know my beloved V8skyline is dead........well not so much the car but the engine. i have a dream, and that dream is to get my car into the top 10 SAU Drag times therefore i need a very low 10 second pass, the car will shortly be receiving a 10 pt rollcage and r33 brakes it will have s13 coilovers and s14 hubs to enable me to fit these brakes. i am thinking of either an rb25det or an rb26dett. i know wich one i prefer but well see how $$ goes after the other work is complete What i want to know is 400RWKW enough for these quater miles times and what work does each engine need to have done to acheive this power....i realise the 26 needs less work to do it but it also costs more to begin with. 32vspecII
i think even with the high costs of buying a rb26 your going to spend lots and lots on a 25 to get 400rwkw . a full comprehensive rebuild will be required . If you can find a rb26 in good nick (and thats going to be the problem) you should see 350-400rwkw with a pair of low mount turbos , cams and the usual bolt on mods . benm
By "SAU Top 10" i'm guessing you mean this in which case Pos #12 is running standard RB25 internals and a standard RB25 Turbo (with NOS) so you won't need 400rwkw to get in the top 10 if that is your sole aim. predator
how much does that thing weigh? that will dictate how much power you'll need to get a 10second pass. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1152625 Share on other sites
Sydneykid
My suggestion is RB31DET:cheers: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1152720 Share on other sites
japtaxi
if you are only building it to do 1/4mile, I dont see why you cant do 3ltr with reasonable sized turbo and auto+trans brake to get the power you want easily. Hope you sort out traction issue first. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1152731 Share on other sites
V8skylineMAN
It wont be for drags, in fact i wont do a lot of racing with it at all...maybe every few months go to a street meet...and the odd bit of drift here and there(on a track of course) car WILL be a daily driver no matter how much of a pain in the a55 it is to drive....mainly cos I'm an idiot. Only a guess but i would say that it weighs 1000-1100 kgs in full trim. dash, front race seats and cage will be the only interior in it when complete, so it may JUST slip under the 1000 mark Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1152800 Share on other sites
pnblight
Then if you want it to daily drive the rb26dett is the best option in my opinion As i drive a 400kwrw gtr most days pfc & avcr apexi and hand controller garrett 320hp ball bearing turbos tomei 260 9.15 cams and adj wheels 700cc injectors rb20 afms custom exhaust and inlet 525rwhp 20psi (last 1/4 ~490hp ran 11.3 125mph) the rest std so that sort of power isnt hard to exact from rb26dett but i am about to change out rb20afms as there limit is about 540rwhp and am going to put forged rods and pistons just for peace of mind .Plus i'm doing some sump mods for track use. as for a low 10 1/4 will come down to weight and setup to gain suck a time not just power Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1153345 Share on other sites
TIMMMAYYY
400rwkw in a gtr and only 125mph. doesn't add up... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1153473 Share on other sites
nmcmahon83
how does power have a direct relationship to speed? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1153534 Share on other sites
V8skylineMAN
He is saying that over a quarter mile a GT-R with 400 Kw should be doing a higher speed through the traps. Maybe it bogged down too much at the start, or he backed off the throttle too early.... pnblight
Well when i ran it gear changes and starts were the biggest issues but even tho it's not far off wot a lot of the high 400hp cars will run in mph and please dont forget its awd not 2 wd a 2wd drive will run a slightly fast mph per hp due to weight and rotating weight . What mph would you exspect from a 490rwhp AWD? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1153684 Share on other sites

pnblight
Well Leewah ran 132hp with 597rwhp it's only 7mph more for a 107 hp Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1153702 Share on other sites
BU5TER
Peter its to hard to really compare mph at this point of modifications as driver, launch, sticky strip and average power etc all make to many variables Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1153704 Share on other sites
pnblight
very true cant agree more and the simple mph to hp only works when comparing apples with apples ie awd with awd and street tyres with street tyres my orginal post to show that its not very hard or hughly $$ to get 400rwhp from a rb26 and i simply post wot i got from my one trip to the strip Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60852-400-rwkw/#findComment-1153709 Share on other sites
