MR R32
I am currently looking at buying a car which has had some parts removed. The intercooler, and radiator are not connected... The car also does not have an ECU..... I know that I need an ECU to do a compression test - but can someone please explain to me if the radiator or intercooler needs to be connected for a compression test? blacky
radiator no intercooler probably would have to be connected (part of the intake system) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60872-what-is-neede-for-a-compression-test/#findComment-1152643 Share on other sites
MR R32
Thanks. What other test can be done to an engine to make sure I am not buying a lemon? blacky
A leak-down test would also be very useful, alot of the time its the best indicator of engine condition. In case your'e not sure, each cylinder is pressurised, and then the amount of leaked psi is measured over time. The rate of leakage gives some idea of what the internals are like. I've never had to have one done, so dont hold me to it though good luck though! blacky Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/60872-what-is-neede-for-a-compression-test/#findComment-1152666 Share on other sites
