BP Ultimate for the Skyline, the Corolla, the bikes, the mower and the weed whacker...

Hell yeah! I put some Ultimate in the 25yo mower the other day, it runs sooo much smoother now. BTW Im not joking! My arms werent sore from mowing because no more stupid vibration! It was tops!

http://www.mrtrally.com.au/forums/topic.as...?TOPIC_ID=20187 i found this when i tried to look up the differences between bp ultimate and shell optimax. i dont think any1 has done a proper test on the fuels side by side bcoz i cant find any conclusive evidence on the two. only ppls opinions.

I think it was ABUSE, I think hes on here. He used to do work for both petrol companies for a bit (still might) and he said optimax is just a normal fuel with a detergent and a octane boost added in to the fuel mix. Ultimate really is a better fuel, burns better etc, its the fuel that is the higher octane, its not from additives.

I just cant remember where he posted it tho.

Not true. Quoted from the shell website:

How is the Octane Rating boosted?

The octane rating of Optimax is higher than standard Premium Unleaded petrol due to the fuel being blended from special high octane components produced by the refinery. Optimax is produced only at Shell refineries utilising high octane components.

The high octane is due to the blended fuel and not the use of octane boosting fuel additives.

I'm sure the reason why I started using Optimax was after a Choice, A Current Affair, or Today Tonight report tested the top fuels from leading suppliers to see which one was cleaner, more efficient, and richer, and Optimax came out on top... but my memory isn't what it used to be (too much computer radiation!).

Not trying to sound offencive but read between the lines...

BLENDED fuel means mixed with something. IE an octane booster, or something similar like a much higher rated fuel, etc something along those lines. As whoever it was that orginally posted what they did, he might have just put it in to laymans terms for the rest of us to understand.

BP Ultimate is still the better fuel, as I think you will find its not 'blended' with anything.
