Drove from Sydney to Cairns and back in a R33

Well she made it there and back in one peice again.

not much issues with the car except for " no good fuel between - Rocky and Mackay on the highway.

knock sensor in powerfc hit 197 at one point where i put in 95 Ron petrol and aclerating from 2800 to 3400 RPM, backed off straight away........ was a pain trying to overtake with engine light constantly flashing if accelerating too hard.

fuel economy - OK 11-12 litres / 100 km.

Damn, if I had to make the trip I'd take a bunch of octane booster bottles and some jerry cans of PULP.

just dont drive behind anyone thats all, especailly 4wd, trailers and trucks and dont tail gate them either or when they are pulling to the curb. Wait a fair bit back so you wont pick up all the stuff they pick up and theres plenty of overtaking oportunity.

You will cop a fair bit of Bug.

An easy way to sort that is to go to the IGN/INJ setting and just back off the ignition a couple of degrees. I found throwing in some more fuel helped too...

Just have to remember to do it again if you switch off the car...

A friend of mine did Sydney Brisbane-Sydney in the R32 GTS-T.

God I'd love to do that, if it weren't for the restricted speed limit. It's tha long pain of getting there. Driving fast doesn't mean you have to drive stupidly. The european been doing it for years at the autobahn.
