The problem is proving who stole what and when.  Since most cars are brought in on RoRo's, the are never sitting in a sealed environment.  How do you prove that the bits and pieces weren't stolen on the Japanese docks, or on the RoRo?  Unless you have photographic evidence -- which, given that most ports are sealed areas is rather difficult -- nobody will care about your compliants.

I have photos of my car just before it was shipped from Japan. When I received it the side GT badges were missing, the rear boot clips and the metal valve caps.

don't you have insurance on your car though? at least they didn't steal the extra seats or whatever goodies it was you got with the car.

That may be the case, but it still doesn't help to identify if the items were stolen on the Japanese docks, by the shipping line employees, but the Australian wharfies, or buy the people who did the quarantine (to name just a few). Again, the problem is that so many people have unhindered access to a car in transit by RoRo with next to no oversight :D

LW.

Exactly why insurance is not very easy to deal with in these cases. Who's to say when the items were stolen. All the insurance has to say is that they were stolen before or after they were in the shipping company's custody, ie, at the docks in Japan or here in Australia.

excess is $500 so not worth it. Yeh at least all the goodies inc the seat etc weren't stolen.

I'm going to check how bad the paint damage is on the guards where the badges were to try and see if I can make a claim and get it fixed. Replacement badges from Nissan are $53 each so I just might buy some new ones.

cripes... so when is it hittin the track u-leh?

hopefully soon :D

Theres an intermittent problem with the 4wd system (light comes on and it reverts to 2wd) and a few other issues that needs to be dealt with. I'm hoping a couple of months max on the road but I might trailer it to a event or 2 hopefully.

Still its good to have it sitting the garage. I've been told the thing looks menacing just sitting there heh
