People who fail to indicate need to be shot! You just have no idea what the crazy pricks are up to????

I saw a guy yesterday who was driving in between parked cars on the side of the road and would swing out everytime he came to a car! No indication just trying to broadside people actually driving where they should be. He then did the old chesnut of slowing to a halt, just sitting there mid road not indicating where the hell he was going and pulled a u-turn nearly collecting oncoming taffic...lock these tossers up please!

This is why QLD drivers are unsafe at 110km/hr, and the Germans can drive at 200km/hr+ without a problem. They indicate, they don't tailgate, they drive in the correct lane, etc.... And the cops over there inforce it because they're not so obcessed with speeding. You see people tailgating cop cars here on the M1 and they couldn't care less. And whilst I agree that failing to indicate is a serious problem, what the above posts are getting at is that the QLD police seem to only use it as a lame excuse to pull people over. They need to lay off the speeding crap and start working on basic driving skills and road manners.

One of my brothers just spent 1 year in Germany, He brought some video footage back of him and a mate on an autobahn, amazing, they are doing 200+ and there is a Ferrari a Porsche and a Volvo that pass them looks like they are doing 220-240 (the Ferrari passes them almost like they are standing still!)! They themselves are in the second fast lane, and there are two slower lanes as well (they pass quite a few cars as well!). The thing on the video that you notice is the road quality is amazing, high fences on both sides so nothing can get onto the road, and the road itself is silky smooth. These roads are built for speed, with MINIMUM speed limits not Maximum. And the road 'manners' are amazing, people that let you pass.... indicate etc etc.....

Also intresting to note that the driver training side of things is shared between the govenment and the manufactures, with the town that my brother was staying in had two driver training facilities, when you purchased a 'high performance' car from the manufacturer, a 6-8 week driver training program was included! And these were serious facilities... I'll get some screen grabs if I can, but basically people driving brand new mercs and bmw's on skid pans etc..... as well as simulated tire blow outs etc etc.....

Nexus9,

Thats correct i agee with what you stated but i was meaning rediculous fine's, as you said in the middle of no were! with no traffic, at midnight. - noise/smoke

As for indercator's their's so many people in QLD that don't know how to indercate going into and leaving a roundabout! But i was refering to in you'r own street with no cars and pulling into you'r driveway and not using indercator etc.

talking about drink driving and not getting booked. I was just on the phone to a mate who got pulled over 2day doing 135 down the highway he had a beer in his lap and the cop didnt even ask him about it and he was drunk. For my mates stupid sake i wished he got booked for speeding and drinking but the cop didnt do anyhing about the drinking side of things how stupid.

And when the cop said do u know how fast u were going i said sorry sir i hought i was doing the speedlimit lol. I was only in 3rd gear i said and he goes hmmm

I don't think everyone should be so quick to write off somebody's driving just because they are doing 175.  This is very fast and in many cases excessively so and dangerous but there are certainly a number of roads around where its perfectly safe to do this.  And just because someone is 19 and a p-plater in a turbo import doesn't mean they are a dangerous driver.

Completely agree....many of u could even be regarded as hypocrites

i was in france 2 days ago........nearly got hit by various cars that were running red lights etc. the roads dont have lane markings (Champs Elyessey round about is a world famous example) the it looked like cutting people off was a right rather than being illegal. i thought australian drivers were much safer when it came to pedestrian treatment..........italy is ment to be worse........but that's the inner city, the highways are ment to be a little different...

germany is a little different. firstly, people respect the rules more. 2ndly the youth dont start out in moster V8's or turbo imports, they work their way up. 3rdly they drive to the conditions....i've seen the holdens on the burce highway doing the usual 110kmph + 10kmph + 10% during massive rain and wind with greatly reduced visibility.....it snows in germany, they have this stuff which you dont get in QLD called black ice, they understand if they dont drive to the conditions they'd get killed and like it was said before, they obey the basic road rules!!! if they abolished the autobarns they might put up a fight about it, but they wouldnt blaintly speed in the way aussie drivers would

there's no problem with the speed limits here. just a lack of discipline amoung drivers. if you dont agree with the laws then hand back your licence.

if you dont agree with the laws then hand back your licence.

This isn't a very sensible suggestion... Most people need a licence. Does this mean that all driving laws are correct? And all speed limits set on every road are appropriate?

Mostly I just have a problem with the way traffic cops here enforce the laws, targeting certain groups and certain offences that often have little to do with road safety and ignoring things on the road that are blatantly unsafe. There are good examples in the rest of this thread and a hundred others like it.

i could have phrased that better. you dont have to agree with the laws but you do have to obey them. if everyone drived around with their own set of rules in their head it would be chaos, infact some do and they're the bane on the roads out there.

i definatly do agree that cops target certian groups, the first time i got randomly pulled over by a police car, i had been driving for only about 5 hours (as in learning from scratch) and my mum commented that she hasnt been pulled over randomly in decades......

I dont agree with what i did but i only speed to 175 to get away from this dickhead ina hilux that was sitting on my ass all the way done smith street and flashing me so i got to 175 and slowed right back down to 110 straight away it wasnt like i was doing it for 5 k or nothing. But there is no point mentioning that to the cops they will jsut sa 2 bad

That's alright, you could just tell the judge that the guy in the hilux somehow jumped from his moving vehicle to your moving vehicle and pushed his foot onto yours in an act to make you speed. I think you'll get off then.
