just put the r31 on the dyno

stock computer, stockinjectors, engine capacity is 2.656 litres

on 1 bar of boost and the stock computer running 10:1 fuel made a cruzy 260-70 rwkw before the injectors run out of puff

hits boost hard at 3500 and full steam ahead at 4500

was on a dyno dynamics dyno at autosport engineer in kirawee mst have been about 30 degrees.. thats all i can add

very drivable and im very happy cant wait to get some injectors and turn it up to 20 psi and rev her out to 9k

done

These XR6t turbo's are looking more and more interesting.

On the 3ltr I would hope the spool would drop to around 3000rpm.

With a 1.06 exhaust a/r or what ever it is.. Thats damn good response.. How can it be?

BUT.. What exactly do you mean by Full steam ahead by 4500rpm?

Boost hits hard at 3500rpm but it doesn't accelerate or punch you in the seat until 4500rpm? :(

They most certainly are , identical core as GT35R or known by some as the GT3540R . 56 trim 82mm GT40 compressor , 84 trim 68mm GT35 turbine .

The unique thing with this turbocharger (apart from the integral gate) is its .50AR TO4E comp cover , possibly optioned to feed 4L at low boost and have good response .

For anyone interested GCG is tooling up to make a .63AR integral gate exhaust housing for GT35R's as part of a low boost kit in the wings .

I will probably option mine with a .60 E comp cover and 82 or 1.06 turbine housing .

never had the old twin turbo setup on he dyno but at 1.2 bar it had less power than the xr6t cruzing at 15psi

ye its a big furker that is for sure

runs like this

2000 rpm .2 bar

3000rpm .2 bar

3500 rpm climbing

4000 .6 bar(starting to hammer)

full boost or whatever you set it at at 4800 and power jumps to about 240rwkw

makes some great power and has the big single sound

downside is

the cat i have has killed itself so ill replace it with a proper high flow one

What kind of tuning has it had done? DOes it have Cams/Cam gears?

I run the same power from my RB26 1bar stock turbos, stock ecu, stock injectors.

tunning nothing just a run on the dyno to check that its not pinging and has enough fuel

im going to get some cam gears cause that will bring it on apparently

he picked it up off a m8 for 1000bucks the bugga! lol

mostly see them go for average 1500 to 2000bucks........ to buy them new from ford u'll be up for nearly 3000 i think from memory.

Drama is actually getting one is difficult ....a) how many ford turbo owners upgrade theyre turbo? B) finding a wrecked one at a wrecker that doesnt want big bucks for it.....

Matt

am interested to whats the XR6T turbo is made from obviosly not a ceramic one how much boost can you run on those trubos what the size diff between a rb25 turbo and the falcon one???, how much work needs to be done on it to fit??

i dropped the car at tripple g (call glen on 0403606314)

took him a couple of days to do the entire instal

he might be making a jig of the manifold to sell a few xr6t kits

it has steel wheels so once i have injectors ill turn it up to 20psi

compared to a rb25 tubo i would say its 3 times the size

    • Actually,  just remembered there should be info in the threads (somewhere) about swapping to a manual steering rack and deleting power steering all together.
    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
    • Nah, the car seems to run exactly as it did prior, in saying this it does "seem" to be better down low, like more eager to rev, but that may be 100% placebo effect from intake noise But, I'm not worried about it at all, in the end it is a fairly low compression NA engine that has a well shrouded intake,  if it is getting hotter IAT I cannot notice anything negative performance wise from the seat of my pants thrashing it about on the street or sitting in traffic, so meh, car now now makes induction noise so I'm happy
