Are oil pressure+temp gauges universal to all cars?

Just wondering if oil pressure+temp gauges are universal as I remembered I have a pair of gauges in my old 351 XW.

I'd like to put them in my cefiro (sr20) and was wondering if they'd just need new senders or what was involved in making them work (if it's possible)?

Aftermarket ones are fairly universal but you have to use a matching sender if they are electronic. My senders also have the same thread as the factory oil pressure guage making it easy to tee into the factory point for a signal.

I think mine are mechanical (since there is an oil line running back to the oil pressure gauge).

So for oil temp it should be fairly standard sender wise (I mean.. temp is the same temp no matter what engine) so that should be ok right?

And the oil pressure I should just find the same diameter hose and run it back (from somewhere)? Obviously clamping it hard enough so the pressure itself doesn't mean I develop an oil leak IN the car.

I will have to go pick them up then I'll probably be asking more questions

Yeah, if you have the sender to suit the aftermarket guage then you shouldn't have a problem. Just need to figure out where you can tee it in.
