Yeh but the only thing that stops me from doing this is the hassle of registering it here. Doesn't the car have to go through a complete check?

The car is already registered in Queensland. From what I'm aware of, when it gets to Adelaide, you need to get a RWC for it and it can be trasnferred into your name. Not too tricky. I'm sure it can be worked out. Call me if u want to work something out.
