I wanted to buy a few things from nengun though i've been hearing that there are taxes and whatever charges when the stuff arrives!?!

Can this blow out the price of the item considerably?

I'v also seen somewhere on the forums that he goes to the trouble

of wrapping the stuff up in wrapping paper?

And i've also heard that it's unlikely to be picked up by customs?!?

If anyone could help clear this up I would be most greatful as I'm keen

on his products/Prices!

:P

yes mate, as you may be aware when you are importing parts from overseas, those parts are subject to import duty and GST. it's simple factor in the cost of duty and GST to your budget and if you reckon the price is still good, buy it. if the taxes don't get levied when your parts arrive consider it a bonus. even better instead of posting this stuff up here, read through the many "i want to defraud customs" and "i want cheap parts" thread that have been posted in the last few months.

i know a lot of ppl have had good experiences with nengun, personally i found the communications to be pretty lacking, slow to reply, and he seems to be out of the office a lot ...

having said that, i'm sure a lot of people have had great experiences, this is just my 2c worth

same here.

woooh - another nengun thread!!

Seriously - Brent(nengun) is a good supplier and will do his best so you can avoid paying any duties.

It depends on what you are after.

smaller items like gauges, ecu etc... will have a better chance of getting through customs than larger items like intercoolers, rims etc..

Also, some items may be exempt from any duties but none are exempt from gst. Ask Brent about this and he will clear it up for you.

Most of nenguns stuff is at a great price and if you are unlucky enough to be stung by customs then you are probably still better off than if you purchased locally. I think the duties tax is about 15% and gst is about 10%.

It is true that brent is known to be slow to respond to emails but once your item is away he will keep you informed.

A friend of mine(wink) got a power fc from nengun for $1100 delivered and it arrived gift wrapped within 10 days of payment without any further duties or taxes.

mmmgtir is correct in saying that there are many threads on importing parts and there is also many threads on nengun. you should have a good search around the forum for more info.

Thanks guys, that helped a lot!

So , really theres a good chance that things could slip through

customs!?!

And he also goes to the trouble of wrapping it up to look like

a gift? I guess that if customs see this they will not put any

fees on it!?!

Thanks Again guys you've really helped me out! :P

Back to the site to oreder! :aroused:

I've ordered an avcr from nengun, he was good at responding to my emails and i got the item 10 days from when it was paid with no extra charges at all. All in all i would definitely buy from him again (save me 200 off rrp in oz). Also i've heard that stuff like power fc's etc are free of duty because they fall under some clause.

I've heard many things about Nengun, mostly good, although my personal experience with them was a little dissapointing. I sent them a couple emails (over a week apart from each other) wanting to get a quote for a Power FC in December but never heard back from them unfortunately. I ended up going through Greenline instead and found Jason very helpful. He answered all my questions within a day or so, gave me a good price and organised to send my order after I arrived home from my holiday (rather than it arriving while I was away) without any problems. I received my Power FC earlier this week and would have no hesitation in recommeding him to anyone else or personally using his services again.

With regards to customs/GST etc, as was said earlier, you should definately factor in these costs where they are applicable before deciding to go ahead with your purchase. More often then not, you probably won't have to pay them, even though you usually are obliged to do so.

Yeah I've emailed brent on a few occations and the response was either late or non existant... This worries me because to me, it reflects

on his service. Either way I have mostly heard of good things and may

still give him a go, staring with some cheaper items!

Anyway thanks a heap guys!

    • Hey, guys, I’m hoping I can find answer here. I have already done some searching and asking around but still nothing.    I fitted an IC7 dash in my R32 GTR, and I got everything displaying on the dash except my high beams. I get input voltage and the high beams displaying in the dash when I pull the lever, but not when I fully engage the high beams. I spliced into the Red/Blue Beam+ wire in the black center connector from the cluster, but there is also a black Beam wire I think I need to use as well. The high beams still work. It’s just a matter of getting it to display on the dash.    Has anyone fully wired in their IC7 properly ? I would appreciate any guidance on this.    IMG_8835.mov
    • I buy my wheel cleaner in 4 litre bottles now. Euro brakes are brutal
    • Sounds like it may all just be some baseless outrage stoked by the carexplore guy? As in the linked social media outrage on facebook just goes back to carexplore as a source again. Further shown by the council response that nothing actually has changed: "The Private Land Use Permit has been part of the Casey Community Local Law for a number of years. It's important to clarify that this permit is not new, and no changes have been made to the permit or the Local Law in relation to the permit." The full council response in Prank's link sounds reasonable to me. Saying that as someone who neither lives there nor has a front yard to call their own
    • Clutch hydraulics are also all good, looks like a brand new slave cylinder and everything bled up well. No idea what the actual clutch is, and I don't intend to pull the box off on the floor to find out, so unless we have trouble on the dyno or at shakedown that will remain a mystery for the new owner
    • Front brakes are G4 8 pot calipers over 330mm discs with braided lines. Everything looks good, pretty sure these are off my old 350. Pads are brand new and judging from gold colour are Winmax which is what I also run on my race car, Neil and I both sourced brake stuff from Matty at Racebrakes Sydney who really knows his stuff Everything has bled up nicely with all new Motul RBF600 fluid, there were 2 loose hard line connections and the calipers were new on the car so I ended up doing it 3 times but it is perfect now
