Running the car 'off boost'

R32 GTR,

I can turn off the boost controller, does this do any harm to the car?

Have you got to stay below certain revs?

Is there anyhting to look out for or is it ok to simply drive it hard ish with out the boost controller being turned on?

Any thoughts on this and what do you guys do ?

Boost controller off should just make the car return to stock boost.. so yes you can drive it as hard, if not harder than usual.

as ben said, also the car may run rich at low boost (if it was tuned for higher boost)and you may get some black smoke but its not harmful.

if u want no boost at all

just give it 10% throttle then u'll have no boost

...or install a boost gauge with vacuum readings, and dont go over 0 !!

It shouldn't really run rich... as boost pressure effects fuel pressure directly.

So at full throttle with less boost, he will be seeing less fuel pressure, and also run leaner.

Thanks guys, just as a side note... I get huge flames on the over run... all the time .. Think I'm a tad rich but maybe its the full decat.... cars behind stay REAL FAR BACK :flamed: :kick:
