FOLLOWING USA VOLLEYBALL RULES EXCEPT WHERE STATED

RULES OF PLAY

  1. THE SERVE: The server shall have 8 seconds after the referee sounds the readiness-to-serve whistle to hit the ball for service. The serve is to be made from anywhere behind the endline. The server may move freely within the service zone. At the moment of the service hit or takeoff for a jump service, the server must be completely in the service zone and not touching the court (end line included) or the playing surface outside the zone. After the service, the player may step or land outside the zone including the court. The server must contact the ball within 8 seconds after the first referee whistles for service.
  2. ROTATION: The team which receives the ball for service shall rotate one position clockwise before serving.
  3. SCREENING: The players of the serving team must not, through screening (moving or by position) prevent their opponents from watching the server or the trajectory of the ball. Screening is a fault.
  4. CONTACT WITH THE BALL: Each team is allowed 3 successive contacts with the ball except as noted in the Blocking Rule.
  5. CONTACT OF THE BALL WITH THE BODY: The ball may be hit with any part of the body.
  6. SUCCESSIVE CONTACTS: Players may have successive contacts of the ball during blocking and during a single attempt to make the first team hit of a ball coming from the opponents, even if the ball is blocked, provided the ball is not held
  7. HELD BALL: When the ball visibly comes to rest momentarily (in the hands or arms of a player). The ball must be hit in such a manner that it rebounds cleanly after contact. Scooping, lifting, pushing or carrying is a form of holding. A ball clearly hit with one or both hands from a position below the ball is considered a good play.
  8. SIMULTANEOUS CONTACT BY OPPONENTS: If two opponents simultaneously contact the ball and it remains in play, the team receiving the ball is entitled to another three hits. If such a ball goes "out," it is the fault of the team on the opposite side. A joust occurs when players of opposing teams cause the ball to come to rest above the net through simultaneous contact. A joust is not a fault, and play continues as if the contact were instantaneous (Rule 14.2.3).
  9. ATTACKING OVER OPPONENTS COURT: A player is not allowed to attack the ball on the opposite side of the net. When spiking, the follow through is allowed to cross the net without contacting the opponent.
  10. BLOCKING: Multiple contacts of the ball is legal during an attempt to block. Blocking a served ball is prohibited. Blocking is permitted after the ball is spiked, or intentionally directed toward the opponents side; or after the opponents allowable 3 hits; or after the opponents have hit the ball towards the net and no member of the attacking team is in a position to make a legal play on the ball; or if the ball is falling near the net and no member of the attacking team could reasonably make a play on the ball. Blocking a set ball before the spike is not allowable.
  11. PASSING AND RECEPTION OF THE BALL: Contact with the ball must be brief and instantaneous. Contact of the ball is permitted by the open hand, ball can not be lifted, held or thrown.
  12. PLAYER CONTACT WITH NET: Contact with the net either accidental or not is a fault. Hair is an exception. If the ball is hit into the net causing it to hit a player, such contact shall not be considered a fault.
  13. DEADBALL: The ball becomes a dead ball when: the ball touches outside an antenna, does not cross the net between antennas, strikes the floor or wall, contacts the ceiling or object attached to the ceiling which is 7 meters or more above the playing surface, a player commits a fault. A ball may be played off a lower ceiling or objects as long as it does not cross the net but is played on the same side. Net serve as long as ball passed between the antennas.

    • Ah yes, fair enough! I was purely thinking about cleaning the spokes and front of the wheel with the mitt. For the barrel the rag on a stick makes more sense. I've tried cleaning the barrels on mine and gave up in frustration. Between brakes being in the way or spokes being in the way and limited space to constantly move the car front and back it was just too annoying. The barrel being as shiny as the rest of the wheel sounds amazing though. At this point I'm not even sure if they have the same surface finish on mine. But I feel inspired now to find out.
    • I have a wheel cleaner pokie thing which is a glorified microfibre rag on a stick, and there is not sufficient clearance between the caliper and the barrel to clean that section. I just roll the car forward 500mm and have another shot at each wheel.
    • The "rag on a stick" is a easy way to fit in between the wheel spokes into all of the barrel Albeit I do have 10 spokes on the MX5 which limits the access to actually jam my hand in to clean the barrel, but it was also makes much easier to clean the 5 spokes on the Dunnydoore with it as well, as you don't have to worry theΒ  caliper getting in the way if you have at least about 15mm space between the caliper and barrel This of course depends if you actually have the clearance between the barrel and caliper, and the amount of OCD you have to get the barrels as clean and shiny as the face of the wheel The thing is bendy as well so you can actually shape it to conform to the inner lip of the barrel Β
    • FWIW, as well as a basic immobiliser/remote unlock (all basic units give you those 2 things), I would also install a 4g tracker in any car I cared about. Just hide it anywhere that won't be found in a rushed look and preferably get something with a built in battery backup so it stays online for a while when the battery is removed or flat While its not a car, when our car trailer was stolen in that den of crime Sydney about a decade ago, the cops were watching from the bloke's neighbour's lawn within about 2 hours until he started swapping the plates and putting up the gumtree ad.Β Β  Obviously it is still not undefeatable (eg parking it up for a few days somewhere without sky sight) but it greatly improves your chances of getting it back quickly and with less damage
    • Instead of magic keyphrases I wonder if something can be done with auto complete. Similar to how user names are handled already. When you type '@' and follow with letters, it'll search across all usernames. It might work to have the same for forum topics. Some key to trigger it and then text search across all thread names and it'll insert the name and URL when pressing enter.
