Hey guyz just wanted to get some info on when a clutch is about to go, like are there and early warning signs, noises, etc. I know when is happens the car just revs without you pressing the accelerator right? My release point is like near the end of the clutch pedal does this mean anything or could that just be how they adjusted it ,Also is there a way of testing if your car's clutch needs replacing, my friend told me he did this to his car put it on a hill in 1st and it just revved without the car moving. Coming from my first car which was a auto im a newbie to this. any help apprectiated

for a clutch to be on its way out, it will start slipping in 4th gear, foot to floor, full boost, after getting hot, but it starts off, only when hot, then goes to all the time, and now for eg myn, slips in 3rd, 4th and 5th when i hit full boost...

if your release point has only recently changed then try getting a rebuild kit for your master cylinder as the seals may be warn and it might not hold full pressure.

thanx for the help guyz hrmm i dont think it needs a new one at the moment but i think it will need one some time this year just one last question sometimes when i push the clutch in it squeaks but mostly in the morning is that normal?

i heard to test the clutch you pop it in 3rd gear on flat land, and slowly release clutch without putting any accelerator. A good clutch will stall, a worn clutch the car will start moving then stall, a clutch on its last legs wont stall and you will be able to release the pedal all the way and the car will roll. You have to release the clutch pedal very slowly.

Your clutch may start 'dragging' which means when you push in the clutch pedal all the way the clutch is not dissengaging all the way. You will notice this because it will become harder to pop it into gear or when you try to pop it into gear the gears will grind. This can be combated by lifting up the clutch point. A brand new clutch will engage very low down, a worn clutch will engage right at the end of the pedal (i.e you have to lift your foot up further). A new master cylinder should fix this problem

You will know when it starts slipping because you will floor it and the car will just rev out but you wont be going any faster.
