Well coming from an audi with 2 1/4 inch piping and one straight through muffler and some big tips... with an awesome 5cyl "boxter/V8" burble.... 110db+ :D

to

a R32 with 3.5inch piping..HKS super dragger and some massive resinator half way down it is so quiet...

so im thinking of getting the resinator removed (like i did with the audi) so i can have the mad straight 6 sound....

Im not worried about coppers atm because i NEVER got pulled over in my audi (loud, dark tint and sitting on its ass)

Anyways im kinda worried about farking the turbo or something without enough back pressure.....

Would the removal of the resinator mess anything up or ruin anything?

The car puts out 120kw at the rears on stock boost with pod and exhaust... shall i expect a power gain or loss???

sorry for the long post but i just didnt want to get screwed around by workshops..

thanks

ed

Yes you can remove it, It will make the car louder which creates more attention by the cops. You wont stuff you'r turbo if anything you'r helping it by give it better air flow though the exhaust and stopping back pressure which causes loss in hp.

:D

ahh thanks fellas......

ages ago someone was saying something about backpressure etc i wasnt too sure...

ill get it taken off and see how i go..... if it becomes too drony ill turn the system up hahaha

and on long trips ill get it put back on :P

Im looking foward to hearing it unleashed!

Ed

hahaha i know...

already had snapneck from coppers.... lots of it......

its so funny though... eg...coppers drive past me pulling out of side street and cop passenger has snapneck looking at my car....

pull up at lights next to them... cop is looking at me and having llook at my car....

i look at officer..."good evening officer happy new year"... copper smiles and waves and drives off.... hahahahahaha

One more thing...

would it be better to get the straight through pipe clamped on or welded?

normally i had mine welded but clamped would be eaiser for ME to change if i got busted.... i dont know how it would hold up though?

thanks

ed

I did exactly what you are thinking of doing and seriously, back to back dyno runs, i gained maybe 1 or 2rwkw but that could also come down to tempartures, better fuel, anything. I've actually got mine booked back in to have my centre resonator refitted tomorrow as I prefer it quiet. Saying that, 12psi+ boost and WOT and it howled like a banshee being burnt at the stake. Loved it :) but personally prefer to not have the extra attention.

Yeh i enjoyed being fast and quiet.

One thing to remember if your removing your resonator is to have a good muffler, otherwise it will sound really shit

I dont mind the noise so much, but ill be putting a new resonator on before selling the car in the future thats for sure :)

Im going to get the connections flared and clamped so that i can put the straight through pipe on or the resinator....

6 flares and straight through pipe $100.....

not too shabby......

looking forward to the noise

Ed

Just got my car back from exhaust shop putting my centre muffler back in. BEST MOVE EVER. I love it, it's so quiet, it makes no noise except the engine & turbo. All you can hear is the turbo spoolin followed by a "woosh" of the BOV. Love it :D :D :D
