Best dealers for skylines

Guys, stay away from extended warranty unless you will keep your car dead stock for that period of time :P .

GrandTurimo on Spencer st :

I drive pass their showroom everyday and still couldn't stop drooling at their line-up. Yes they do sell Skylines but only GTRs and hot GTRs only - spotted the r34 nur edition last week) , also some sexy RX7 series 7 + NSX + Ferrari in there recently. So you know their price range. Unless you look rich enough or they won't take you seriously.

Carizma in Richmond :

I bought my R33 gtst 97 there, stock car with even no body kit. My mechanic was so impressed with the engine and nearly 1 year after , i haven't had any problem at all.

It all comes down to you who did the homework , arrange inspection and you will come out happy in the end. Most of the dealers don't have good after sale service and if you modified the car , they will reject your warranty claim straight away.

Though I havent bought mine yet - the ones I have looked at are GTAUTO (croydon), and SSV (Oakleigh) - both vic dealerships. Wayne at GTAUTO is really good at going through everything (from importing to maintaining, checking for accidents etc), honest - and he seems to know heaps about skylines. If it wasnt for him telling me about what to check for in a car, I probably would have bought the first supra I saw. Mark and Peter at SSV - again very friendly, Mark seems to know a bit about them, as he imports them himself - both have excellent quality cars.

If my next car is an import, i will be importing it through UPI. They also do all the servicing to my cars. (Actually taking my S14 in there next week for an engine swap, SR20 unfortunately :( )

Great service and trust me these guys know there Skylines, just take their cars from past issues of HPI mags if u need any references :P

I know these guys are brokers and not dealers, but if u have the time to import your own then i would say that would be a cheaper option.

I bought my 32 from jap cars in fawkner, great service, great prices, had the car inspected and it checked out fine, still drive's great today, only gripe is they leave their cars outside.

The report showed the car had no major accident history, it was also almost stock bar pod, BOV and cat back exhaust.

Well - got my car from GTAUTO IMPORTS in croydon - and it is fantastic! Any problems or queries, Wayne and Jarrod answered em for me and they have a list of contacts that they use for Waynes own Skyline r33 - so they got the whole package - id refer anyone interested in imports to them.

I bought my car from them. Was the ONLY good car there exept for an Immaculate R33 GT-R Series 3. Most the cars there are crap. The mechanic also told me (The only Good thing about SEI motors are the mechanics) was that the owner of the yard wanted to replace the HKS turbo on my car with a stock one but the mechanic said he wouldnt do it.

i bought a clean 33 from em, lot of their cars are crap but i reakon if u find a clean one they are ok, just talk to the mechanic instead of the salesman bout the car. good prices on back up service i found too, ie major service ect.

Hey guys I bought my r32 from JSA. I would not recomend him to anyone EVER!. When I saw the car stright off the boat the night it came In I took photos of all the damage to the outside & the inside. Now after a year the car is rusting out. because all they did was hide the rust and now its heaps worse. The cars now a drift pig (still road reg) but I will be getting the car bead blasted and then welded and fully resprayed. One good thing about JSA is he know nothing about the cars he has there. If you know your stuff just beat him down in price. But for first time buyers DONT BY FROM JSA.

JSA is dodgy crap.

There cars are as you said Callum.. I'm shocked at how some of the cars are arriving of the boat and what they are doing to cover the damage >_<

Then again, they do work on bell street. *cough*

I just purchased a car through J-spec and the guys really reccomended that I get a mechanical inspection (none of the other guys I've dealt with have offered this) the car turned out to have accident damage which wasn't noticed at the auctions.

The guys at J-spec were more than happy to either fully refund my money or help find another car. If it wasn't for their honesty I'd be stripping down a car in a few months time as I wouldn't be able to get it complied.

If only all importers/re-sellers were as genuine as the guys there!!

Thanks again to J-spec.

I'm brought my R32 GTR from JSA and got it checked out before hand and it had about $3k's worth of problems, which I got JSA to factor into their price. New peders suspection, new DBA cross drilled slotted rotors, new brakes, new brake lines, new timing belt. It was well worth getting one of the top mechanics to check out the car before hand to find everything which was wrong. I've had the car for a year and haven't had problems apart from one minor accident in the wet ;).

I wasn't happy with JSA in the end though they seemed shifty and their warranty deal is load of crap.

One good thing though I don't think the knew how good those Advan RG Mags really were.

Im currently looking at buying a car from SEI, but from reading what you guys wrote on here Im getting scared... The car im looking at seems nice on the inside, cept the odometer is dodgy with only 2000 KM on it with 25,000 KM claimed from japan so all up 27000 km.

That car dealer claimed hell give me 12 month worranty, I paid a deposit for the car and will now get someone to look at it and do full diagnostics. I also signed the paper for the car (f**ken stupid I think ) but it has 'Subject to test" clause in it.. meaning that if I am unhappy with something then I dont have to purchase it.

Ok now I feel like crap...

hey everyone

I went to a place in fawkner called Japcar they had a car i like. The guy was help ful but me been a first skyline buyer i didnt know what to look for. i had a look at a White 95 R33 series 1 with 80k it was stock but he said he oput it back to stock to register it. He said he can leave it stock for me or add rims and exhaust for no extra cost.

I also have a car that i cant sell so i asked him for a trade in. He would give me $6k for a 99 Magna with 160k on the clock. he gave me a price on the car. So his overall price on the car was $16,650 that includes all on road costs. thats not including the trade in. its only the first place i have been to i called Power road and they dont take trade ins. What do you guys think i might try the Holford motors they seem to have ok cars.

what do you guys think. has anyone else bought from japcar.. sorry for the long post and reviving an old tread

BTW: I ended up cancelling my contract with SEI and got 350 deposit out of 500 bucks back... The car appeared to have too many problems (oil leaks in many places etc).

I then went to SSV in Oakleigh and found my dream car! Very clean R33 S2... it was the owner's GFs car but they were willing to sell it if I wanted it as they didnt have anything I liked in the garage... The car turned out to be mint with only 43000 KM... so far mechanics have said its very clean R33.

Got her for 17800.

Id recommend SSV to anyone who wants a stockish car in a good condition with great service!

sir - d, its auto yeah?

$18k for an auto....ouch

Yeah but the car has many goodies like:

blitz dual stage turbo timer,

mongoose alarm with 3 point immob,

kenwood amp,

pioneer stereo,

tinted windows.

rear strut bar,

GTR hi flow cat,

Pirellis,

very clean, inside and out as well as engine.

very low ks and car feels like its brand new and been looked after.

it was by far the most cleanest car i ever seen in r33 range... i rather pay a bit extra but for a mint example :)
