Jealous much? :D

This is by far the most stupid comment I have ever seen on an online forum. Congratulations.

Until you have an R34 GTR than can run a 10.81 @ 136mph, I suggest you keep your comments to yourself, because all you're doing is coming across as a jealous prick, who can't give praise where it's deserved.

Who gives a flying f u c k whether Jason whipped out the tools himself and fabricated his own driveshafts... He's got the resources to pay someone with the knowledge to do this, and instead focuses on doing what he CAN do, which is his job.

Just because you don't have the engineering background to do everything yourself, does that preclude you from having a fast car?

Do us all a favour and STFU.

XCUZME: Merlis right on this one mate - That is a seriously foolish comment.

All you are doing is critisising someone who is successful in what they do and is lucky enough to have enough $$ to pursue his passion.

When you have the knowledge to personally build a car of this calibre then you might have some justification for your comment, but for the moment, standing back and yelling "cheque book racer" to someone like Jason just screams jelousy :uh-huh:

I know if i had the money, id sooner pay a professional to engineer and build an R34GTR for me than try and do the work myself, thats just common sense.

Personally I would have saved the plates and stickers until I ran a 9 second pass. Sticking them on the car now is a bit like opening your presents the day before your birthday. But I have little doubt that car will end up in the 9's eventually, I just hope that it doesn't get turned into a full on drag car to do it.

YLWGTR has it spot on though, there are better drag cars than the GT-R and the best place for a GT-R is pounding around a circuit. If I spent that much on a GT-R it probably wouldn't get into the 10's down the strip, maybe the 1'40"s around Philip Island though.

I hate it when people use that lame line, imagine if every time someone criticised John Howard he said "Until you are elected as Prime Minister keep your comments to yourself" nobody is beyond criticism as nobody is perfect, but I agreed with the other stuff you said.

I too, would have saved those plates and stickers until the car has run a 9 second pass. But the car ran a 10 second pass on it's first drag meet, with it's STAGE 1 MOTOR... Lets give credit where credit's due.

And although I agree that the line "Until you have an R34 GTR than can run a 10.81 @ 136mph, I suggest you keep your comments to yourself" is infuriating, this is only the case because it's true. I'd say that only a handful (if that) of us would have the resources to undertake such a project as getting a lard-ass R34 GTR down the strip in the 10 second bracket in full street trim.

It just seems to me that too many people are putting in their $0.02 where they have no experience and no basis for their comments, other than watching others do what they cannot do, or cannot afford to do. That too, is infuriating.

Cliff notes: It's a beautiful car. I'd love to own it. I'd love to drive it. And believe it or not, so would all of you who bagged it and/or it's owner.

It is not and never will be true. It is a throwaway line that "plays the man and not the ball". Personal attacks are cheap shots and should always be treated with contempt. I just thought it was a shame you detracted from your other insightful comments by saying it. It brings you down to the level of the original poster's "cheque book racer" comment

It's not a personal "attack" at all.

All it is saying is "If you don't have the knowledge or the experience, shut the fu ck up."

Whoops silly me, I thought this was a forum full of support for fellow owners and enthusiasts, What? It is? Oh ok then I had better lock this thread then as to not detract from the other more appropiate lines of conversation we have on offer. Like for example PM's and the like.

Have fun chaps,

Toodle-Pip.

    • I would paint match the whole thing to avoid unwanted attention  I had a similar bonnet, paint matched, on my old R33 GTST, but mine was a fibreglass jobbie made by Blitz in QLD, they work extremely well for radiator efficiency and under bonnet temps

    • small update time, after always wanting a "cool" looking bonnet for my car and always struggling to find one for the series 2 that i liked and wasn't an insane amount of money. Saw one i liked on RHDjapan from D-speed in Japan the price was very good for a carbon bonnet so good infact i was a little unsure how much i trusted it, decided to bite the bullet and with the help of jesse streeter in not long at all it was at my door. Once it was delivered i ran in from work and quickly unboxed it and to my surprise the quality was actually pretty good i quickly removed the old bonnet and placed on the new one to test it out and even the fitment wasnt too bad at all. Then decided to paint the little grille in the bonnet black to stop it sticking out so much.   I decided to not mess around with the hood latch and just install some aero catch hood pins, having never installed them before did some YouTube university classes and i was good to go. fair to say it is not a fun job at all from making brackets so the pins sit nicely and actually cutting through the bonnet but also being very scared of cutting the holes too big it took wayyyy longer than i would like to admit but finally got it there. Then it was time for a quick test drive to ensure the latches actually worked and thankfully the bonnet looked very stable. I still think paint matching the bonnet and leaving just the part that sticks up as carbon would help make it all look alot neater as im not sure how i feel about all that carbon on a very fridge white car but will leave it as is and see how i feel with time.
    • I think it's bound to happen, you finally get it all perfect, and bam, something will happen. I took a while to get a Commodore rear quarter repaired where a P Plater clipped it. Two days after getting it back, Sarah wiped it out on a concrete pillar in an underground car park... This is why I take forever to repair them, it stretches how long until it gets bent again... 😛
    • Nah, not really responsible for that little fiasco, but I'm still pissed at myself for writing off my 86, or when I reversed my VX into a pole just before selling it, but, meh, 5hit happens to stuff, all it takes is a slight distraction, and life is full of distractions, and "dooh" moments
