I was wondering,

What chance do you think there would be of a broken ringland smashing the turbo exh wheel?

The ringland pieces would be contained by the rings wouldn't they?

Especially with very minor bore marks, no head damage, just excessive blowby and loss of compression on that cylinder.

Anyone have any experience/expertise in the matter?

Hey mate,

I wonldn't think the bits and pieces of ringland will go up as they most likely would have blow on compression stroke meaning the air & explosing is forcing pistons down so the air would have blown the a hole through the rings on the side of piston towards the inside of piston into then into the sump.

somthing like this:

On this engine their was no dammge done to head or turbo. - car was driven straight home and pull down to be rebuilt.

But i've seen cases were valve's have been a little dammged (chips) and turbo exhaust wheel fins possibly chiped. Due to driving the car after blowing ringlands.

:(
