Hi Skliner's,

looking for some expertise/previous experience here.

I'm finally going from the standard radio/cassette double din unit to the same unit but with a front load cd player/cassette/radio.

Pictures supplied below of CD unit I want and my current radio.

(I must keep the interior of my car stock...just my preference!!)

Are they fully compatible as far as plug connections? Simply put, can I just plug and pray?

I've had the unit out for some unsuccessful servicing, and from the pics that I've seen from the rear of the cd version head unit, the inputs/outputs on both plugs appear the same (?)

I thank you in advance!!

Virtually all JDM Nissan's use the same head unit connectors, the only difference is that the connectors used changed sometime in 1994 (see here for pics: http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/Nissan-Wiring.pdf). So if the new head unit is from a post 1994 Nissan (looks like it is!) then you won't have a problem.

YOU ARE 5UCKING ACE!!!!

That diagram is too good to be true!

Thankyou!! :)

for yours (as stated) its a drop in!. unbolt yours and plug it in. if that is a patrol one you are laughing. ( if you can find the CDstacker cable you are better off again!>)

come to think of it . hit a fw 4wd wreckers and grab the unit out of a 2001 RX patrol. theya are about $300 from memory. sam think as you have but the FM works properly.

Thanx mate,

question; Patrol, as in big Nissan 4WD thingy??

are their radios actually the same as a Line (95 onwards)??

woah, learn something new everyday!!

ps, do you think the stacker and 'cable' would also be available on these wrecks for that price?

Is that why there are more connections on the back of my radio? (for a stacker?)

thanks again.

yep the current model patrol. haven't chased a stacker cable through one yet so I'm not sure if its integrated into the harness or not. other than that they will plug in and work not sure on the stacker price. most of them didnt have it. the unit is a clarion ( not sure what yours is.)

the one in the pic you showed has steering controls on it and the power / speaker plugs no cd control.

oh....! i am told that even my current tape/radio is cd stacker upgradeable via a harness in the 2 spare sockets in the back of the unit, presently unused.

I've just bought the actual cd player pictured (front CD slot, all else same as mine.)

Chris, What's a 'steering control'??

do you know who makes the one you bought? ( I missed the 8p plug on the left side.)

only people that use that setup are masushita.( panasonic.)

I've had it (current radio) in bits on my kitchen table, got the AM band to work only, couldn't see any particular make. But.......Matsushita is Japan's biggest CD drive manuafacturer (computers and audio), so it probably is!!

You may also notice that there is another round 'mini-din' type plug on the back of the uninstalled radio....wonder what that could be??
