short shift instalation

ok i just got a c's copy shifter tha im trying to install into my 32 gts-t. all goign well part from that fact i cannot figure out where the metal ring that is about a cm thick that came witthe kit is supposed to go. looking at pranks guide on installing it into his 33 gtr he placed it below the plastic thing with with guides for the fork

but when i do this the gear stick that comes with the kit dosent seem to reach deep enough into the gearbox.

can someone please tell em what im doing wrong

it does fit but its like threadin thread thru a needle. you have to make sure that the plastic tip slips into the ring in the gearbox otherwise itll sit high like what youve said. took me a couple shots but percentages and coordination says it will slip in eventually...LOL.
