I have a front mount ARC cooler. I think they are really good but expensive. i spent about 1500 on mine from japan and it was a direct bolt up with the front bar off. All pipes were included. With 1.2 bar on the dyno for several runs it kept its cool.

As for side mount, ARC and Trust make the best ones.

DezEgle,

You can be the lad rat and do a before and after on this type of intercooler.

eg: Creat a thread after do you'r thoughts on how you think it performs and dyno results etc etc.

Other than that ARC is a good brand and i would expect that their cooler's are made from good material and do the job.

:D

Hi DezertEagle,

I bought one of the ARC sidemount coolers secondhand for my '32 GTS-t and reckon they're brilliant. Much less restriction then the std core and apparently these things are easily good for 200kW at the wheels, you also have the added bonus that you retain standard look/intake tract length.

Fitment was relatively easy, you have to remove the front bar, front stone gaurd and LHS front mudguard to get access.

The major issue I found is that because the cooler is twice as wide as the standard item, the back of the core sits right against the plastic mudguard, you have to be careful not to damage the fins when refitting the gaurd, as my cooler was secondhand it already showed signs that the previous owner had the same issue.

I ended up modifying some of the mounting points on my mudgaurd to prevent it pressing hard against the core and at the same time widened all the vents on it so as to allow as much airflow as possible through the core.

Went in to Shift today, they quoted me approx $1700 for that side mount as displayed

And from memory it was another $100 for a full front mount cooler kit.

I didn't listen that well because I was so shocked by the cost.

Would much rather the Front Mount

R31Nismoid, mine may be a special case, but before I got defected mine was running 13psi with Hybrid front mount, full turbo back exhaust all netting me 212.8kw at the wheels on the Unique Autosports Dyno.

EDIT - Although my engine was replaced some 15,000kms ago it has been dubbed a freak motor by John as well :)

If my car doesn't sell I'll be going the same path but with stealthy modifications.

a stock turbo'd 33 will not make that power. Even with a 34 cooler or whatever you changed a while ago.

If it is stock turb... the dyno is up the creek.

I'm pretty sure a couple of others have achieved +200kw with agressive tune.

Sorry to bring him up but R33vit also gained 208kw with standard turbo, but with PowerFC.

2RISMO has run a 12.7 with standard turbo and no NOS.

ARC are a good brand, but in my opinion, that price for a side mount intercooler cannot be justified. Especially when for about the same price you can get a FMIC (with piping).

As alternatives, HKS FMIC use the standard piping, as well as Blitz. Blitz also make side mount intercoolers too.

well i have 273hp (which is aprox just over 200kw) running 11psi, stock turbo, fmic, pod filter with cai, full 3" turbo back exhaust and a SAFCII

not impossible
