On the Power FC menu (accessed via the COmmander) you can set the rev limit to where ever you want.

But the bottom line for me is, if I can't trust the workshop not to thrash the car, then why would I trust them to fix/service it properly? Better to find a workshop you do trust.

:D

With Stock ECU:

You can try un-plugging the AFM or the earth strap on it.

To get the car to start so they can drive around or move it, but they can't rev it over 2,000rpm as the ecu has gone into home limp mode ;)

Then once you'r finished connect it back up and all is sweet !

With Power FC:

What SK said, :(

if u unplug the afm, it'll stop you from thrashing it, but will make the car run wierd, and the mechanic will just plug it back in....

I wouldn't worry about it that much, if it's a performance workshop, they'll be used to driving turbo cars all the time.

Not really,

I've seen plently of cars driven with the afm un-pluged, not boosting but just moving the car, with out realising.

I don't know about the R32 but i have seen r33's do it :(

As for them plugging it back in, well yeh they can then you'l know they have thrashed it or brung it on boost. As SK & Ben said if you can't trust you'r mechanic get another one.

I was more referring to people like:

Interior retrimmers

Panel beaters/resprayers

Valets

Etc

Oh dear, I would never give my Skyline to a valet:spew:

Your own rev limit should be set to protect the engine anyway.

For the others, a quick turn down of the boost should do it. A normally aspirated 2.0/2.5/2.6 isn't very interesting to drive.

a bit off topic but anyway here is my question:

the rev limit it set at 6900 as i can see on my pfc commader... yet ive tested it a few times and it has shown peak revs hit 7150 one time... but usually in lower gears it sometimes hits 7000 (i am getting these peak readings off the commander not the tacho btw..)

is that normal? ie. is the rev limit sort of soft?
