Jonneh Bravo
hi guys just looking for some good suggestions about a noise thats coming from my car. Its coming from the suspension or from the bushes. I have taken it to for different places and all have given me 4 different answers. i really dont want to spend money on fixing the 4 different things and then find out it was something simple. This is what i was told - ANSWER 1- Bushes are fine but u need to change ur front shocks. ANSWER 2 - Everything is ok. your bushes are supposed to squeek as they are made from that type of rubber. ANSWER 3 - Before we look at it we suggest you change all 4 shocks and springs and then we can identify the noise because it is sitting on the bump stops???( which i dont think so) ANSWER 4 - The front bushes come loose i tightened them and now they should be fine. 30 mins later same noise again. All these suggestions i have had are fine but the funny thing is this noise on comes in the mornings when it is cold and on cold nights. During the day when it is sitting in the sun all is good and my head is peaceful as i dont hear any squeeks. Any suggestions on what it could be??? or where could i take it??? This noise is really becoming a joke and embarrases the hell out of me when i am going for a crusie and all u can hear is squeeking. so all criticism and suggestions are welcome. mjfawke
Are you using polyurethane suspension bushes? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/62508-advice-needed/#findComment-1177684 Share on other sites
race_snooze
as the rubbers cool they shrink so as to then move a round slightly within the sockets, as they heat up they expand so the squeaking stops, that is the best answer i can give you. I would take it to howard revell if you have not allready.l Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/62508-advice-needed/#findComment-1177689 Share on other sites

I would take it to howard revell if you have not allready.l Well.... no actually. 'Stock' suspension bushes (eg. lower control arms) are rubber bonded to an inner and outer sleeve, with the outer press fit in to the suspension member, and the inner clamped by a through bolt. They don't shrink/expand, and they don't move around. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/62508-advice-needed/#findComment-1177702 Share on other sites

Jonneh Bravo
Are you using polyurethane suspension bushes? thats what on of the guys said also. but only one has said that. mjfawke
thats what on of the guys said also. but only one has said that. That doesn't really answer the question... Assuming you do have poly bushes in the suspension, then squeaking is normal, and you should disassemble and re-grease the bushes. Use a molybdenum grease or assembly lube - don't get it on your skin, however... Jonneh Bravo
Ed lubed them all up but it still does it. what changing all the bushes help. why does it only do it in cold weather Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/62508-advice-needed/#findComment-1178080 Share on other sites
mjfawke
Ed lubed them all up but it still does it. what changing all the bushes help. why does it only do it in cold weather Well - you don't lube the rubber bushes, so I guess you must have polyurethane. Was it lubed with moly? Regular greases don't to the trick. Polyurethane is a plastic, so it is affected by temperature to some degree. All of the poly bushes squeak, even the graphite impregnated ones. Some people add a grease nipple so the bushes can be greased in place (not sure how effective this is, as the grease needs to get down to the centre support tube and the ends). Jonneh Bravo
so if i pulled all the bushesh off and grease them up with that moly stuff it should stop squeaking?? mjfawke
'Probably'. My Nolathane bushes in the front never squeaked (well lubed), the Energy Suspension graphite impregnated ones in the rear always squeak... but not badly. Did you grease your swaybar 'D' bushes (are they poly?)? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/62508-advice-needed/#findComment-1178390 Share on other sites
