and where is the A/C Grommet in a coupe r33 :P like i said, i duno wanna take out dash or anything... its for a boost guage... ps... wheres a good place to put a 2 1/8 gauge [yeah it was too big thinking dash is mad... but now wid vic laws i think ill have to sell it and lose big bucks ;/

the boost gauge? is it electric one or normal.

My boost guage hose is fairly big, so when i did mine. I ended up drilling a hole next to the master cylinder.

Then ended up mounting the boost gauge on the a pillar as low as i can with the pillar gauge.

Pop your bonnet...

Look at the turbo.. Now lok directlly behind it at the firewall. You will see two silver pipes going threw the firewall. Just below that you will see a wiring harness about an inch think coming threw a big ruber grommet. Now pass a broken coat hanger threw the rubber grommet. Find it on the inside and then tape the pipe on the other end of the coat hanger. Then lube it up a bit with some dish washing liquid. Now pull the coat hanger all the way threw. Now you have what you want threw the firewall....

You need to use the coat hanger cause you cannot see the ruber gromet from the inside. You need to rely on feeling with you hands in behind the ac evaperator...

Cheers

Omg, thanks so much for that col-gtsx. see, the problem is, i've been passing wires through the right hand side - near the accelerator. The grommet is like really tight, so i've just squeezed the wires through the edge, which is pretty dodgy. I find they get cut in a few months from getting rubbed on the edge.

I've had a look at the main grommet which you speak of. I notice that the grommet is also very tightly squeezing onto the loom. How do I get stuff through it without wrecking it, or cutting it? or do I just have to make a small hole in it and poke the coathanger through? I don't want water leaks

I cut a small hole beside the main loom in the rubber.. As the hole in the fire wall is over 2 inches big... You will have to submerge it in water to get it to leek.... And if you did that, you have a lot more to worry about before you would notice or care for the little ruber grommet.. LOL

Make sure you lube the item up and tape it too the coat hanger so you can pull hard...

(I can see that above line looks really sus...)

But yeah if you dont lube it you will tare the rubber or the item taped on the end will fall off...

yeah, I got it. I know exactly what you mean now. My problem was I didn't wanna break the end rubber. But like I said above, now I realise that was stupid.

And then how you need to use lube, other wise, it gets caught on that rubber tubing that runs to the other side.

Thanks so much for your help mate. It's sorta harder to do on skylines isn't it. On toyota soarers, they've actually got a little grommet about 2 cm wide that go straight (not offset) through the firewall. That's big enough to pass just about everything through.

Thanks again col gtsx and all others.
