Howdy all.

Just wondering if anyone out there is currently running one of the new HKS EVC IV electronic boost controllers.

I was recommended the EVC along with the Blitz Dual SBC by tuners in Japan as being the best options for a GTR, but I would like to hear some reviews on their performance, reliability and ease/or not of installation.

Can anyone assist?

Nick: Just to avoid confusion, I assume you mean this unit: http://216.239.39.104/translate_c?u=http:/.../boost/evc.html

Its known as the EVC 5 in the US market, and the EVC IV/Gold in the JDM.

I have one, but haven't got around to hooking it up yet.

LW.

I am assuming it is the EVC 5 (or EVC EZ?)you are talking about

I can only speak from experience - I used to have the EVC 4 (which would be the jdm EVC 3 unit).

Assuming they havent changed the design, it runs off a stepper motor which is more reliable and more responsive and doesnt spike as much as a solenoid based system would.

In terms of installation, theyre fairly straight forward. I had one in my GTS-T 33, and I really had no problems with it.

It held boost very well, never spiked. Easy to operate, etc

it runs off a stepper motor which is more reliable and more responsive and doesnt spike as much as a solenoid based system would

How do you come to this conclusion, a properly tuned, asbolute pressure, solenoid EBC will be faster, a lot more reliable and have a faster attack time than any Stepper Motor controlled unit on the market. I am really interested to know your theory here as I have both Stepper Motor and Solenoid based units and I know what I prefer...

Thats the Blitz SBC not sure if thats what you'r refering too ? It is on a GTS-T tho i'm sure it would be the same on a GTR.

As for HKS, i havn't herd any complaints about them and being HKS i bet they have studied hard to make it have as acurate boost control as possible :D That unit looks pretty flash & looks fairly straight foward to use so i don't see why it wouldn't work.

:D
