How to service a "sealed diff"?

Gday,

Garage says they can't change the oil in the diff as its a 'sealed diff'.

So - how do you service it?

Thats ****ed up.

You'd have to pull the diff out and remove the rear housing to remove and replace the oil and reinstall it with a new gasket (if they use gaskets).

So it is possible. Just harder.

Still - why would manufacturers make it like this?

I might have to crawl under and have a look myself. I get the feeling they may have missed it.

If it the factory housing in your ceffy........it is exactly the same diff as an R32 skyline.

The only reason they possibly could not just pull the plug would be if it had some stupid aftermarket back plate with no drain plug.

If it is a stock diff.........then tell them to stop being so lazy..........I have removed/serviced several diffs in cefiros/skylines........is not that hard.
