....i just have a problem with spool up time and need to reduce it badly i thought this might help a bit. i have currently a high flowed t3 with t4 steel wheelso she doesnt hit full boost till 5000rpm and im running 1 bar boost i have a 3.5inch exhaust  and HKS front mount.

Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but with such a comparably small turbo, i find it odd that you are getting full boost as such a late rev range..correct me if im wrong.

Do you have an aftermarket ECU?

Considered maybe getting someone to have a look at the tune to get you a better boost response?

Tuning plays a big roll in boost response, more so over spending $$$ on manifolds.

I say this, as i've had two different ‘types’ of tunes on the same engine set up.

One tuner, was lazy and didnt really play around with ignitions, managed to get my t3/t4 to just SLAP KICK in at 4000rpm

On a different workshop with more experience, he managed to give a VERY linear and stable boost increase that brought boost response down as low as 2700rpm with full boost at just a smidge over 3000rpm

Anyone wishing to organise a gorup buy on the turbo outlet pipes like the picture above, I am keen.. I know the stokcer pipes are majorly restrictive..

The crossover pipes are a good idea to equalise turbine pressure, but I always have a concern about any possible reversion causing turbulence, but this would be at certian rev ranges only and if you're trying to run GT-RS's then I gues you need all the help you can get..

Gav: mate, I don't know where you can get hold of those old skool HKS manifolds anymore. I know a few people with the current goodsmaster and I could have a look for you this weekend if you want?

Yorik, I'm keen on those compressor outlet Y pipe kit too. I was thinking of the nismo one, but it may be more cost effective to get the HKS ones (which are pretty much the same).

on the other hand, I'll probably be better off to pick them up when I go back to japan. I really need to stop buying parts here and be patient. :lol:

Have you guys looked into getting the standard manis extrude honed?

Scooby - I have heard that the stock mani's are not too bad, but how many $$ for the hone? Might end up more worthwile getting something like the nice shinny ones I posted above....

DB - how much are you looking for on them, so that we all can get an idea???

mmmgtir: There is different pipes like this made by Greddy, HKS and I ahve seen a few Nismo ones, Greedy sell a kit that also incorporates the turbo inlet pipe and a Trust Air Filter for about $1000AUD (through Nengun) These are pre made to fit Z32 AFM's.. I would just ditch the filters if I could get them for say 750-800.. At the moment though I am more inclined to spend my money elsewhere, I was hoping someone would bring up a gorup buy sort of thing on these, I jsut don;t have the time to try adn organise it..

Sort of on the same topic, does anyone know of a cheaper version of the bridged low mount manifiolds?

My GT-RS terbs shuffle like a bastard during boost build up and I have the option of either adding a bridge to my existing manifolds (prefer not to as they are nicely ceramic coated inside and out) or selling them to buy a bridged pair.

Gav dont bridge them, you'll lose the clear exhaust pulse signal and lose turbo efficiency .I can show you published documentation if you like.

I heard an engineer who makes manifolds say he thought the chinese manifolds are quite decent and any problems of cracking could be solved by putting flex piping of some sort soon after the turbo outlet to provide some resistance against the movt of the entire exhaust sytem thats hanging off them. Makes sense to me.

Hi, looks like I am going to have to pull out of group buy.. I ripped off the pipes the other nigth and had a good look and I already have HKS Stainless Manifolds under the stock heatshields.. Sorry for any inconvenience..

Along with the HKS dump pipes I am now at a loss at to why my HKS GT2530's have such a high boost threshold.. They make 0.6 bar by 4k rpm and 1.2 bar by about 5k rpm.. I would ahve thought that with the restrictions removed that 2530's should spool up a little quicker.. I will ahve to check the compressor flow maps for the 63 Trim variety..

Now I am much more keen to get some of those pipes for the turbo outlet.. Looks like Nengun have the best price for GReddy kit. I can't find anyone else selling these or any other brands, will ahve to look harder me thinks..

I agree that the 2530's should be coming in a LOT sooner... I researched the 2530's quite a bit before I bought mine, as I wanted something with good response and discovered that the 2530's were very good.

I'd say it is a tuning issue - it really depens how things are tuned as to how it will respond. SK is very good on this topic. When I was speaking to SK re the 2530's he was able to get his to 1bar ~ 3700 - 4000rpm....

I think I might be suffering from a bit of Wastegate creep, I have just started loggin with my FC-Datalogit tonight and will be checking the boost delivery in a graph, I am interested to check out some of the other sufrrounding factors before I make any hasty changes.. But my Tomei Cams (260deg 10.85mm lift along witha fair bit of associated hardware) project is now a few steps closer..

In terms of the pipes, I did a fair bit of reaseach today at work (slow day) and I foudn that the best deal seems to be a deal on Greenline for HKS pipes, still up around the $1000 AUD mark, but they offer some more piping in the recirc area aswell.. 4x turbo-IC pipes, 4 x Inlet suction pipes and 3 x recirc pipes.. I have Z32 AFM's already and sizey K&N's so I have to be a little careful with positioning and pipe sizes as these semm to be designed more for the HKS pods which are a little smaller in terms of protusion (about 1.5-2 inches) .. More reseasrch me thinks..

I looked at the piping kits as well, but i don't need the full kit, as i have M's pods and Greddy hard piping kit. I might look at getting some piping made up here to replace the stock outlet pipes :D

Hmmmmmm, what ECU are you using? Personally I would be looking at advancing the ignition timing some, as that is the first place I go for better response. Maybe some tuning of the exhaust camshaft timing woiuld help as well.

Premature wastegate opening would be my next port of call. Try setting the boost threshold at 2 bar, and testing the boost build then. That will tell you if the boost bypass isn't large enough through the EBC. If that turns out to be the case I would try a Norgren pressure limiting valve before the EBC. Or upgrade to a Jaycar IEBC, they ensure absolutely no premature wastegate opening because the solenoid is in series to the wastegate actuator. The HKS EBC (like most others) has its solenoid parrallel to the wastegate actuator.
