I am trying to buy one used car to learn Manual driving..

thing is...my next target is driving GTR32...

which car will be the cheap&worth to learn manual before i move onto the GTR???

I am thinking to buy S13(non-turbo)....

I am living in Syd...please give me some tips guys..

well...until i got enough $ to afford GTR32...^^

i am not thinking to keep it for long...but i dont want to have a cheap family car for learning...^^

Hmmm any car to a GTR is a big jump.

Its like ur doin year 7 maths and then jump to Quantum Physics.

Just learn in any car and wen u finally get ur GTR just be careful and learn the car and its limits. There are no obvious cars that standout which are better to learn in. Prolly somethin RWD.

If i were u i would learn to drive manual in a mates car and buy the gtr asap. its not that hard and i dont see any reason why a gtr would be hard to drive... i learnt to drive on a mates car and did about 7 hours total manual driving before i bought my 33gtst. If u are uncertain just take it easy.

so basically you're looking at something for around $10K that's not a boring family-type car?

well like u said, NA S13 would be a nice choice...insurance might be expensive though, remember it's all money that could be saved towards the GTR

just my opinion, but if you're saving for a GTR, i'd be getting something that looks and goes okay (2 years is a long time to drive around in a total shitter) but that is cheapish to run and insurance doesn't cost the earth.

Seriously though, driving manual is driving manual, i think if your gonna get a GTR its more about attitude and maturity and yes skill as well but more the first 2.

hey i had 2 days of driving manual before i got my GTR

so yeah i dont seee any prob...... though power diff is a huge step up.... thats prettty much what ya gotta get used to....

I agree with the 'big jump' thing.

I'm going from a manual, FWD 100kw Civic - to a manual, 4WD 220kw GTR.

Not to mention driving a 50kw Lada in between.

I've been driving for 10 years - and the first thing I do when the GTR arrives is take another driving course. Everything about the car is so different to what I know - it's time to learn again.

no i mean people who havent even driven before and who have never experienced what power is always say i want a gtr...

i guess because of the fact that they are powerful but you know...

sometimes it seems as though its a bandwagon thing if you get what i mean.

IMHO this is what u should do. Now im assuming that u have had ure lic for a few years but have never had a manual to drive.

Look in ure auto trader or sumfin for an 84 corrolla (ke 30 i think) then take it down to ure local 'private road' and friggin kill it!!!!

Learn how to slide and know what the car feels like while sideways and slippin and spining all over the place. Sure it has no lsd but it is rwd and the chassis is the same as the late great ae86 so it handles rather well. Put out a couple of cones and try going round corners and holding the slide (wet days only as its not exactly a powerhouse)

Basically learn how to deal with a car under harsh conditions and then when u get ure GTR and go round a corner and the back end decides it wants to do sumfin else u wont panic and start doin silly things to try and control it as u will know what is going on.

Experience is priceless!!!!!
