I'm not going to go into too much detail but I once tried to grab memorabilia one night after a hazy night in Northbridge only to find out those "you have just passed a speed camera" signs are bloody chained... this one was chained to a lightpole...:(

Strcih9nine you are officially riding shotgun, as long as Judge Reinhold brings his Lasoo!

Of course, as usual, the judge would love to help. The problem with the lasoo is lack of accuracy and possible damage to the car. Speak to me at the next meet and ill tell u how to deal with em *speaks with an experienced tone*

Of course this cop bashing will be done in much more appropiate way in the future ie alluded to!!!!!!!!

oh and camera operators have to calibrate the darn thing everytime its setup, ie when the guys standing back with the gun and the remote flash operating device. they have to get cars going slower, faster and on the speed limit for the speed zone. non of these pics are used for fines.

oh and JiMiH the operator can most likely have u charged with dangerous and reckless driving if he wished.

and the cops are more than likely to believe him than u especially when can prove u turned around just to abuse him.

come on people where did u get a brain. its twits like this that give car clubs and younf drivers a bad name.

ahhh, reminds me of the time I got flashed by a speed camera at night... the infamous red flash...

The operator was standing like 8metres behind it holding a radar gun and what looked like calibrating the device.

It flashed at me...

no ticket ever made it to my letterbox... and i was PLUS 20+ over

SCORE!

same thing with me, except i saw him from far away, he was wearing the reflective yellow vest, so i slowed down to like 40 in 60 zone, he was holding the radar at me, and it flashed..

Fair enough for setup calibration must be done however he had been sitting there for quite some time. Looked as though he had made a few other people upset as i left there was people on the other side of the road wanting to talk to him aswell. I think testing should be done whilst setting up but it would be fair to the public if there was a sign saying calibration in progress or sumfin like that.... random flashes is not appropriate when it comes to safety and road concerns, i think the police and government could handle the situation a bit better, especially with the aggresion some drivers have these days! Getting flashed when not speeding is VERY annoying, i don't think some people my age will be as tolerant as i was......

****en oath - It just enrages people if they think they have been wrongly booked.

A simple sign wouldn't hurt and it would be cheap and effective.

but their argument would be that you deserve to be enraged even if you arent going to get done because you have been speeding....but I totally agree with you man, those 3 times I got flashed I was worried sick for ages, not a good feeling!

I agree too

you shouldn't be unnecessarily flashed if you're keeping within the elected speed limit

you aren't allowed to flash (with high-beams at people) as it's considered a hazard to peoples driving and their attention may briefly sway, causing them to crash. Whats the difference with a camera (apart from being closer) flashing you when you are in the speed limit, not breaking any laws???

I definately agree with them needing some sort of sign to say they are calibrating and you may be flashed

I just don't see why they can say one thing and get away with another that's pretty much the same

not cricket

if you get flashed and you know you weren't speeding then whats the big deal, if you were speeding and you get caught then take it on the chin and keep going.

the point is duuuuuude that if you get flashed and you weren't speeding, then you're in the right... by law it is illegal for us to flash other motorists, so therefore what right do they have to essentially flash us?

My point exactly!

Another point to be considered... I am travelling at 90km/h in a 90 zone then flash.... Being a Little old lady and not wanting to receive any more fines i start thinking that my speedo may be off... i better spend next weeks pension on getting my speedo fix becuase i was not aware that they were testing and in my old age didn't want to argue with Mr speed camera man....

    • To be fair passengers who aren't silly and have been in proper fast cars have often been pretty impressed once you hit 4th gear
    • I suppose that's true. Barring almost any situation, I'll never sell so what the market does is kind of irrelevant to me. It's possible I'd make most of my money back. That spreadsheet I mentioned? Maybe I could make back more than what the car's total costs thus far are, but the parts and all that is possibly a different story... Thanks for reading. It was certainly a good moment and just makes the ties to the car that much stronger. It's exciting that the option will be there to bring it over, however I have some plans with a shop that may end up keeping the car there longer, not sure. Coupled with the fact I want to move there and haven't solidified any path yet. So in a way, it feels like I'm in a limbo state that is uncertain; time will tell.
    • No worries, everything worked out in the end. I just wanted to make the point that it doesn't matter where it comes from (I.E Australia), it can be broken or improperly built. I would still purchase from these companies in the future. B2R - Not certain how that finished, this was on a car I wired a few things and street tuned. I know the owner ended up shipping the motor back to Australia for investigation. Hopefully some of it is covered under warranty.  Turbosmart - I always pressure test everything that goes on my car. It's a habit from my career in oil and gas. I run two 40mm's and both had major leaks from the actuator to exhaust portion through the shaft. I returned both, they shipped me back two and one was leaking and the other had a 38mm top (40mm gate with 38mm actuator cap, no idea how that happens). Eventually after a lot of back and forth I found myself with two non-leaking gates. I believe this happens a lot more then people would like to believe but you would never know if you don't pressure test them prior to installation. Crank Motorsport - Issued a full refund and let me keep the seat rails. I turned them into scrap metal for other projects. GKTech - Shipped me out a replacement and asked that I modify it as per my idea and that they would do the same for a future revision. ATP - Can just needed a large shim to bolt up properly.  Haltech - They started an actual proper Beta channel for firmware's a few months back and stopped using the general public for testing. I'm now much happier.  Speedtek - f**k Speedtek. I would love to watch them burn.
    • I've got a Turbosmart wastegate, ATP catch can, many GK Tech parts and Haltech everything. Everything's been perfect, sorry to hear your experience wasn't the same
