thanks, called him, looks like I didnt hook up the selector valve linkage, but now i have problem of locating another spring, which i have damaged, dont ask how :) If anyone in Brisbane area has a wrecked automatic transmission, please let me know, thanks

Anyone know a good place in Sydney to get the valve body and torque converter removed to send off ?

Mike doesnt have any to send out anymore

Spoke to my normal mechanic said they won't touch the auto box.

Anyone in brisbane has done this before? I'm really interested in getting this shift kit but I just don't know where and how to get it done...

How do we ship the old valve body assembly back anyway? Can we just take it to the post office...?

got mine done in Dec, pulled it out, packed it up, sent it express post from P.O., approx $50 i think, he modifies yours, depending what stage (spec) you want, bills your CC, had it back in approx 4 days. then fitted it myself. very ,messy job though, make sure you have lots of rags.

Sounds exciting! But i don't have any tools, and the landlord of the place I'm renting is a clean freak, so i'll need to find a workshop or someone to do it for me. :D

Anyone wants to help me out (i'll pay, of course), or knows of a good place to get it done?

hey mate

i had mine installed by mercury motorsport. they aren't automatic specialists, just mechanics, but they did mine and it came out perfectly. plus their used nice fluid.. motul..

and.. they sent it back for me using their courier account, so came to pretty cheap compared to sending it myself with australia post

Ah..! I see. Thanks a lot ^_^

My problem is mostly the 1st - 2nd shift and to a lesser extent the 2nd - 3rd shift, 3rd - 4th seems unchanged. When it changes i just feels like the gear is engaged too quickly. At modest throttle levels (what i would call normal acceleration) the change jerks your head back even though you arent really going that quick. At full throttle i can feel the tyres break traction for a little bit and the car has a short burst of acceleration. Apart from being quite irritating i think this puts a lot of extra stress on the drivetrain. Keep in mind my engine is dead stock so i can't imagine what it would be like on some thing with a bit more poke.

I have spoken to MV automatics about it and he has offered the 'next level down' which is supposed to be 30-40% of what i have, however he has said the brass plugs that replace the springs and modify the overlap stay. I'm thinking it may be the overlap change which is the source of my irritation. Anyway i have decided to go back to stock. This was in part something i wanted to try to reduce stress on the tranny when i get an aftermarket ECU, but i think it will just spend more time making sure its electronically interfaced and doing what it should.

This isn't a slight against MV Automatics or there product it just wasn't what i am after.

Hi guys, just trying to get an idea here, overall besides the quicker shifts, would it be that sufficient to have the shift kit in say if I was running over 300rwhp with a PFC etc? I was thinking of just putting in a trans cooler only. I'm mearly concerned with the life of the gear box.

Cheers!

Quicker changes will reduce the wear of the auto cluches and reduce heat, so it will improve the life of the auto (not reduce it)

A trans cooler will cool down the oil (heat that comes from the torque converter) and will also help improve the life of the auto.

    • Hey guys been looking everywhere to try and find the correct gtr hood latch support part number but only found the first half and when I search with that number it sends me to an r34. The first part I found was 62515. If anyone could help me with the rest then I’d really appreciate it. Or if there’s some alternative hood latch support that would work even better cause I can’t find any for sale. (Searched on upgarage, partsouq, buyee, rhdjapan)

Adjusting the camber arms on their own WILL introduce bump steer and make the car unpleasant to drive. Most owners have no idea that their car could behave infinitely better than what they put up with. I'm not entirely sure what the Stageas need, but I am thinking that unless you have massive front spring rates and pretty soft rear springs, you have waaaay too much rear bar. Oversteer city, in my estimation. Combined with possible excessive bump steer from maladjusted arms, that could be a recipe for nastiness. ATR43SS2 is not a highflow. It is an outright replacement turbo. It's a little bit bigger than the largest highflow profile that Tao does. Probably a solid 300rwkW turbo where the bigger highflows will be about 30-40rwkW less. Nevertheless, we're only talking about ~300 rwkW, which is well within the abilities of the stock ECu to run with a Nistune on board. I would do so without hesitation - and I will be doing so when I get my finger out and actually get the injectors and AFM installed. But, if you would prefer to drop a whole lot more money on the ECU side, then I suspect you're looking at Haltech. The Haltech fanbois here will all spout on about all the available engine protection you can have, that you can't have with the Nistune option. And they're right. But it doesn't really come for free either. You will spend more money on extra sensors and the like, plus the work to install them. If the engine was built and therefore represented a big investment to protect, then I'd say definitely do it. If you view the current (and forever into the future) shortage of replacement engines as something to prompt similar protection, then also, do it. If you see a destroyed RB25 as an opportunity to put in a Mercedes or other V12 (like I kinda do)... then your perception of the risk/reward might differ. These are good injectors. You can also get a "better" set of the same with more flow matching, for more $$. 1000cc is where you will want to be. You will need an R35 AFM and adapter tube if you want to stay with Nistuned stock ECU. Otherwise, if going Haltech, you can ignore. As for intercooler. Just about anything will do. You're only talking about ~300rwkW. Just put a big core in there. Be aware that return flows do add significant pressure drop and will cost power and will make the turbo work harder to achieve the same goals. If you can manage a proper crossflow, do it. I'm keeping my very good return flow because I'm only expecting to be in the ~250rwkW range, and will live with whatever outcome I get.
