I think the whole key to this is whether or not the structural integrity has been affected. As with what I was told, the repair was only minor, but because Imports101 is importing the car & complying it, they would not bring it in if it could not be accepted to Australian standards. I have read the dotars file (cheers driftt btw), and don't see a problem transpiring from all of this.

It seems to have been worked up a fair bit in this forum, but there is a guarantee involved with all of this too. I am happy with what I have been told, but I have a feeling there won't be a problem bringing it in, as it will only hurt their reputation.

Has the damaged R33 landed yet and what has the workshop got to say........

Yes, and nothing. The workshop is Danny's, he has rights for compliance of 33's. I have had a look, the repair was only small & is clean, & his opinion of what has happened was that it hit or was hit on the LH fender, not like it has smashed into a wall at speed. I don't think there will be any problems with it at all, it is a very clean car & work will begin as soon as tomorrow, if not in the next few days.

He is getting slammed at the moment unfortunately.

DOTARS will be very happy with Dannys shop and ethics and i dont know of any other importers that have the garrantys that he offers. I have been amazed with his attention to detail with his cars.I spose thats what the new rules are there for.

You're obviously more worried about this than I am driftt, I suggest you don't even let it worry you because it's not your car.

He runs a reputable business & wouldn't make a mistake he knows he would regret.

Since starting this thread...

I have been given a refund on the 97 gts-t

I have been given a refund from the aussie broker I used

I have bought a much better car directly from a jap broker

I have saved myself 1.1k

aussie broker = not part of an importing loop

What forum rule was broken Steve? He was only quoting another website (a government one at that) - not stating a personal attack on a business.

I suggest that some of you look at this site - http://raws.dotars.gov.au/rawswebpublic/RA...rch.asp#results

It will tell you who is RAW for the state of WA. Also alot of other good info for this site.

Skylinemad and supahiro27 - I believe that importing was NOT worth the hassle over the savings costs. I imported my car under the old laws and it would have saved me alot of time and hassle just to buy here. And the savings weren't really that much in the end.

Pozza - Have you contacted him to see what the story is? I am sure he can give you an idea of what the hold up is.

The trouble is i'm not dealing directly with him i have bought it through a dealer so i keep geting the information second hand. And all im getting is that it has been signed off but canberra are scrutinising the cars he has atm more than usual.

A R33 Takes 2 to 3 days max to comply, I do a Soarer in a day but the Mechanic drinks with God so I will fudge the time frame, paperwork next day and DOTR'S are issuing plates in 4 to 5 days so get same week or next at worst and off to pits.

But with R33's you need a lot of evidence for the different models and that costs money and your engineer has to get that sorted, I had 2 Soarers delayed by 8 and 10 weeks due to waiting for new evidence.

If your test car was a R33 Series 2 Coupe Auto it is different to R33 Series 2 Coupe Manual and it is different to R33 Series 2 Sedan Manual and it is different to R33 Series 2 Sedan auto and it is different to R33 Series 1 Sedan and it is different to R33 Series 1 Coupe and the list goes on.

Then you have M Spec and so on and so on, look at all the different lights, engines and transmissions that can give different variants and more evidence the workshop has to buy.

Just because they have R33 Skyline compliance doesn't mean they have all the variants.

How many EVO 7 Variants are their "Auto or Manual" now look at R34 same deal.

Another question to ask.

What was the condition and auction grade of your car, did it say "Minor Accident Repair".

It is apparently an auction grade 4, slight damage to front bumper (no support damage and it is quite low), scuff on rear bumper otherwise very nice condition. I have been told it doesnt have accident history. But i have not seen an auction sheet so who knows.
