Hey guys just want a few ideas here, Other nite went driving with a mate anyhow after a while of driving about the car started to get a "werr" noise from the driveline @ about 65 kays and about only under acceleration tho, be it boosting or easy throttle. I a bit worried about this noise now so here my thoughts on it..

1. Diff problem, lsd has gone in it or maybe bearing has picked up some shit and has damage!?

2. Gearbox - As the "werr" happens in 3rd and 4th pretty much it could be mainshaft bearing??? 1/2nd gear is no dramas normal feel no probs but in 3rd and 4th it does and when lightly touching the gear stick you can feel a small vibration to go with the noise..

There is no noise present on free wheel - Netural with clutch both engaged and disengaged and no noise when coasting or down hill only under accel..

What do you guys think? Im gonan drop both oils later today and see if there is any unusual colours. And what oils should i refill with?? apart from redline cause no1 uphear has them!

Car is R33 gtst 95 manual

Cheers all

my r32 does this as well, only when the throttle is cracked a bit. its normal for a rear wheel drive to make a little mechanical noise. WRXs were prime candidates for this. (even though AWD). It will make a noise all the time if somethings wrong. could just be a knackered thrust bearing from clutch dumps?

Seeing it only does it in 3rd n 4th id say it would have to be a gearbox realted noise. Most likely a shaft bearing spun up. It would do it always under acceleration if it was the diff i woulda thought.. I once had 5th gear make that kind of noise sounded like a rally car haha. Best to get a driveline specialist to look at it... Hope that helps ..

    • But if you've got the flex sensor whats the issue? You just run what you can get your hands on.  I can't see any reason not to run e85 if it's relatively local to where you live.
    • Exhaust end of this month, and then tune after that whenever there is availability. Still tossing up between a pure 98 tune or a flex 98/e85 combo.  The (lack of) milage in e85 isnt great. Start to get anxiety if i go for a long drive and there arent any united servo's nearby
    • I mean I can be OCD'y but this is really over the top. At that point why not just run a full wideband fuel controller? Especially if you run 3 widebands. The system works pretty well, which is trimming low load stuff to be within a few percent of the base map. Pre-engine _change_ the base map was only 1-2% off, depending on ambient temp, elevation, etc. Under load the LS is really very straightforward to tune, enough that a wideband closed loop would be overkill. If I really cared (and I hope I don't) I can always just go back to the MAF system the car actually came with. Which does all those nice calculations for me (temp, altitude, etc), now that you can buy 102mm MAF's that do not cause restrictions.
    • Good afternoon Team , just a quick update on performance mods  Current Mods list (Installed) HKS - Power Editor (Came with the car) looks to be some kind of boost controller RV37 Skyline 400R (SKYLINE) | FUJITSUBO  - Cat Back  RV37 Skyline 400R (SKYLINE) | FUJITSUBO  - Front Pipe AMS  - INFINITI Q50/Q60 RED ALPHA COLD AIR INTAKE KIT AMS  - Performance Heat Exchanger Intercooler Not Yet AMS Alpha Performance Full Race Down Pipes  - to be installed in May
    • I'd be installing 2x widebands and using the NB simulation outputs to the ECU.
