Benm,

So the R33 N/A ~150kw will crack 250km/h.. :D

I don't think it would. :P

I am unsure about the N/A but I can assure you that a 250hp (186rwkw) RB25DET is very capable of pulling 250km/h (and still pulling beyond that altho quickly running out of rpm before the rev limiter).

Lets just say I have a friend that has a flat private driveway to his house/property with plenty of run-off room where hitting 250+ in an RB25DET is very achievable.

well I know I also took a stock pulsar over 200 with

pulsaroffdaclock.jpg

but I think things get much harder over 200, thats a lot of air to push out of the way.

A dyno can only tell you the wheel speed of the car at the rev limit in 5th, there is no way you can max out a standard car no matter how long the road

uh?

I agree with Bazelinez, the speedo and real world speed do tend to be out slightly. I know on the private road i use, my PFC reads 180 as my speedo nudges the little "HICAS" light off the end of my 180km/h stock speedo. at 200km/h on the PFC, the needle was just past the HICAS light. :P

well thats an interesting question.....personally I'm surprised a PowerFC would read different to a speedo since they both use the same sensor in the gearbox  I think the main issue is the rolling diameter not being exactly right for the speedo

IMHO GPS or good accelerometers are the only accurate way

Benm,

I miss-understood you. :D

...and im saying you dont even need 250hp to crack 250km/h (and you dont even need 7,000+ rpm).

You then said your friend with a Rb25DET (which is 250hp) cracked 250km/h.

The N/A won't cut it. 250km/h is just too much air to push out the road.

This friends R33.. Was it dead stock? or had the usual exhaust?

How did it go towards around 235-250km/h. Torque would have been dropping off at that point so I would have to assume the last 10km/h were slowish.

Pulling hard is subjective.

Honestly, I really do find it hard to believe a stock R33 (including ride height) would zip up to 250km/h without a struggle, think it would really be pushed to get there.

But its all I think. :D

I believe 230km/h is a fairly easy target but after that things slow down quite a lot and takes quite a bit more time to get there.

Well if a little old corolla can do 8500rpm in 5th (3SGTE, but pretty much stock) then I think a skyline could do better.

BTW, working it back and allowing for the speedo being out, the rolla was doing anywhere from 270kmh+ (sits on about 2800rpm in 5th at 100kmh, but we know its more like 90kmh. So if anyone wants to do the maths)

I have some bits to add to this all done in safety offcourse. I have an apexi digital speedo for my r33 with some small mods to the car. At about 100 on the standard clock but the apexi is reading 105 and the gap increaces slightly the faster I go, but the top speed i have done in safe envronment was 260 on the apexi.
