If you want that much power from an rb20 its going to be a lag beast no matter what you do.

Here is a question, who has actually been in an RB20 with a nicely setup turbo? Its all too common for ppl to throw an RB25/16/30 into their R32 rather then chase power from what is probably a tired 12 year old engine.

But, even with this being the case, i dont see why a properly setup RB20 should be laggy at all. Bad turbo selection, as in my case, shouldnt mean the engine gets slagged. I love my turbo, im happy with the power, and im happy enough with the power delivery that im not going to change anything unless it comes by at the right price.

My car makes 16psi at around 4,700rpm, and thats with an exhaust housing intended for an RB25. With the proper housing i guess i could make that sort of boost at around 4,200rpm. Then again i only have 222rwkws at 16psi, which is a long way off 250rwkws, but we will see in the next 2-4 weeks with a revised exhaust, a better tune including the cam gears which are still set at '0', and 18psi.

Im hoping for around 240-250rwkws....with a 7,800 rev limit we will see if they are as fragile as ppl make out:(

...but your hi flow sounds a bit like the turbo on my old R31 GTSX, which had a plain bearing VG30 centre/exhaust housing with a Sierra turbine and T4 compressor.

It did the job but there are better things around. So far im yet to be impressed by the GT-RS, id be inlcined to bite the bullet and get a HKS 2835, or a 2535 depending if you want to retain std manifold etc.

But my thinking, no reason why the RB20 should be bashed around the ears for being laggy. Poor turbo selection, or the one missing ingredient that so many RB20 owners fall victim to, be it injectors, ECU?!?!?! If you can revise that power figure down a bit i think you will be interested in doing a search on the 2530, in particular the results of bbenny and Chris32. R31power should also have 2535 results soon:)
