Exhaust pop

Does anyone know if when you get a pop from a catback or turbo back exhuast whether or not you get a little flash while driving at night? I did a search and couldnt find anything.

I never changed my catalytic converter. Its stock.

oh ok. The pop usually happens when accelerating quickly and shifting up. I think its when the exhaust tries to get rid of burnt fuel quickly so it wouldnt suprise me if there was a little flash.

i dont have a cat, i get a blue flame/red flame/sparks shooting out/and shitlaods of backfiring.

If u have a cat ull still backfire but the cat converter reduces the fuel emissions? therefore u dont get the flames or sparks etc

fine cost more that the car,

but on topic i doubt you would c any flame out of the standard exhaust.

i thought the car needed to be running a lil rich so the fuel dumped in the exhaust would ignite???

what i find odd, is my car has a brand new, 3" highflow cat (paid $350 for it), yet my car has a really loud 'pop' on gearchange (randomly)... almost sounds like it shoots a flame...

and when my car got taken over the pits, the transport guy banged on the cat and said it sounded hollow, and that i'd gutted it...

mine always pops after i give it a bit, while jumping on and off the throttle, full 3"zorst

this is normal and most of the time it will be alittle flame inside ur exhuast, but if u get very loud ones its a big flame for sure

cars with a cat wont... some cars cats might be badly degraded (if its been on there for a few years etc) so you might get a flame.

Mine flames on the odd occasion... i think. Whether it makes it out the rear end or not i dunno. No-one's ever seen it.

You can tell the difference between a pop and a flame.

The sound is a tad different between the usual pop, and when the fuel catches.

I doubt there would be a flame but I'm speculating that there's a little flash. An example would be turning on/off a light really quickly in a dark room. It cant just be a *POP* sound can it?

When I have driven my car with no cat, its belched some big flames out the back (witnesses say over 2ft long) and it lit up a dark street bright orange.

Needless to say, I now have a cat on the car
