hey guys, just wondering how do i advance the timing on my r33 gts? i heard that it can become more responsive with the timing advanced. i've got a timing gun in the garage, but this connects to the spark plug lead, so how do i do it for the skyline?

step by step instructions with pictures would be nice

im not much of an mechanic, just the other day i dropped a bolt into the engine bay and couldn't find it :)

Ha ha, i've done that.

I recomend you get some one to do it for you, like cypher industries or x-speed.

Advancing it to much will cause the car to detonate and ping, can be pretty dangerous specially if you dont have a big front mount.

One way would be to PM DAMQIK, he has whipped up a quick adapter. He should be able to send you some pictures of it.

Basically you remove the COIL and hook up a short ignition lead between the coil and the spark plug. This gives you a lead to hook onto.

Also you will obviously have to remove piping, cover etc off the engine.

Also you will have to remove the front cover off the engine. Sorry I can't explain it more. If you do a search for spark plugs on the forums, you will find detailed info on getting access to your coils/plugs.

Umm if you check meggala's site he has an absolute wealth of info and links.

Regards,

Tim

whatever you do dont just advance the timing or let anyone else advance it just using the crank agle sensor this is not cool wont go into it at length but its not a good idea to do it this way. PLus id be pretty wary of more advamce on a gtst as the have quite a high static comp ratio of 9.0:1 and they are already tuned to 100RON fuel which we dont have so be carefull!!!!!!!!
