Faded Headlights:(

I just recently purchased a R33 sedan and my headlights are faded. I assumed it was from it sitting in the sun too long. I have seen such an effect on other skylines and was wondering is there a way to remove it. It makes the car look neglected. Ive heard you can get plastic polish but i dont know if it will work or not. I was also told to take to it with wet/dry sandpaper!!! (seems a bit harsh)

If anyone has any ideas could you let me know.

cut and polish seems to do the job for me. ive heard tooth paste too. youll have to re do it every so often as it comes back.

dont use sandpaper thats way too harsh

you'll be amazed how easily it comes off with car paint polish, brasso metal polish also works, doesn't need to be abrasive at all.

Just did mine yesterday and used a product called T-cut. Its a auto polish in a red bottle works a treat. Just a bit of elbow grease and your done. Came up like brand new.

Yep as above, i used car polish as well, makes em sparkle!

use a electric buffer on them, takes out the hard work too

Little confused... do you do this on the inside, or the outside of the headlight... Sounds like a dumb question but hey, i gotta know

On the outside.

I use some plastic polish that was in a tube that Prank lent me one time but next time I've got some plastic polish from Meguires that's more of a liquid in a bottle.

outside... it appears to be the inside thats dirty, but it is infact the outside...

brasso, a cloth and some, not much, but a little bit of elbow grease works an absolute treat

Yeah, you will be amazed how good this actually works (I was). Brasso first (buff this off in small circles) followed by a wax/polish.

I used toothpaste and the outsides came up real nice only prob now is that the insides are dirty so am I correct in assuming the only way to clean the inside is to take the lights out and pull apart?

One of my head lights is brand new...

Which makes the other one look $hit, so i used gold class (as per usual) and it worked a treat... However you know when you look at the cloth after polishing off I was left with green as the colour on the cloth.... I thought thats weird.... Any thoughts???

yeah, it's mould. I've got a mate, with a very similar problem. looking at the headlights from sideon, it looks mouldy, whereas from front on, it just looks the usual aged cloudy headlights.

I use Meguiar's PlastX (plastic scratch remover), works really well!

Or in my case now, crash your car and get 2 brand new ones bought for you! (thank you insurance), but at NZ$1200 new each from Nissan this probably isnt in every ones budget

I can vouch for what he said.. That Meguiar's stuff works a treat!
