Hi all,

Dont know if anyone else has experienced this but I get a pretty bad vibration off the line under full acceleration, does not go away when 2nd comes in. This does not happen all the time. I noticed it was workse when someone is sitting in the back. Does the Stagea had a rear LSD?

Next one. Sometime when turning the wheels with at a standstill or going forward very slowly whilst turning I get a vibration. Just wondering if these two problems are interlinked????

Thanks in advance.

Ken

Hi Ken, I get the vibration when reversing slowly at full lock. I have checked the CV's and they are good. I will be changing the radius rod bushes shortly for more caster. They appear to be a bit worn (soft) so they maybe the problem. I also get a bad (harsh) vibration at 160 kph, I will get the wheel balance checked, but it feels more tailshafty. I don't have any vibration in first or second.

I get same vibration forward or reverse, but not at full lock, and not every time. I had a similar vibration (acceleration) on my gtr race car, it was a centre bearing drama. The tail shaft should not affect my turning vibration should it? I was thinking lsd clutch plate prob, maybe transfer prob - I really dont know. Out of ideas. Let me know how you go though.

Cheers,

Ken

I too have a slight vibration when turning slowly. But i thought it was normal as when I push the snow button I got the vibration still but a little worse so I thought it must be the ALTESSA system thinking that one wheel was turning faster, whcih it does when turning. I think it is normal, but I will stand corrected.

Cheers ICE

I was getting vibration coming out of my Cam gear cover for a few days, but then it went away. i was worried my belt was about to snap

I'm getting my timing belt replaced tomorrow anyways, so hopefully that will solve that mystery.

Vibration under hard (not very hard) braking, no real suprise there but, anything that small trying to stop 1800kg of wagon is going to wanna argue. Rear brake pads worn out in 12 months, so I've machined rotors, put a set of R31 rear pads in at a 3rd of the price for the genuine ones and seems to be gone for now.

Yeah i get that bad vibration under braking too. figure i'll upgrade the brakes to a decent set of brembo's in the near future.

I'm not sure if it's just the ABS stuffing up or that the stock brakes are just crap

I changed the front shocks on the weekend and I noticed, when I have one front wheel off the ground, I can't rotate it. It is pretty tight as I can undo the wheel nuts (tyre service 120 ft lbs to undo them). If I leave it for a while, a few hours, I can then turn it. I assume this is the ATTESSA residual hydraulic pressure, this happen in the GTR's. Since I have the Stagea in Park, the tranmission is locked so the one wheel can't rotate independantly.

Keeping this in mind, the vibration when reversing is an indicator that the Stagea may have some form of LSD in the front. Anyone seen that mentioned in the specs? :P

I have a gtr cut coming in my next container. SK, do you know if the Staj/GTR tailshaft is the same length?? Another things that happens is if I give it a stab and then back off quickly the diff seems to lock and unlock rapidly -anyone else?

My understanding is that the front half of the tailshaft is the same, but the rear is longer:cheers:

    • Yes...but look at the numbers. There is a tiny tiny fraction of the number of Joules available, compared to what is used/needed. Just because things are "possible" doesn't make them meaningful.
    • Thanks for taking the time to post that ! If anything changes or happens please do update us.
    • Somehow Vertimass/Oak Ridge National Labs has figured out a catalyst that can convert ethanol into C9-C10 hydrocarbons in basically a single step without ending up with a bunch of ethylene or similar waste products: https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2023224867A1/en I still don't think anything like this will keep us from needing to transition to EVs regardless along with all kinds of other electrification, but things like this will go a long way towards alleviating the problem of how to electrify things like planes. Renewable diesel is seemingly an easier problem as well, Chevron is already running refineries for the stuff and the primary feedstock is tallow and other waste fats from agriculture.
    • Ok so I have sorted everything with my uniclutch and  i can offer up a bit of feedback and some things that might help others.    I found problems with factory damper line. Weird shit and had trouble with peddle adjustment    I used this https://au.gktech.com/products/r33-gts-t-skyline-braided-clutch-line?_pos=2&_sid=22b01b9b9&_ss=r Also when adjusting peddle leave a bit of play. You can get into a over stroke condition easy.. Make sure you can push the slave forward after adjusting to confirm fluid can return to master then you will need to pump it up heaps…..not sure why but that’s how it is.    last thing the splined adapter is machined perfectly. If your input shaft is old like mine was I would put a bit of valve grinding paste on it and stroke it like a 15 year old. Just to give it a tad more clearance and to better match it to the spline.    reason is on a near flat shift I have had situation where the peddle returns a millisecond after you lift from the clutch. No slip or anything but I reckon this is due to tolerance on the spline being way tighter than stock clutch and binding for a sec. I think this will go away but also my spline was old. Box is old so I guess I should have checked better. It’s a super neat fit.    it feels light as and holds awesome without any noise
