what i am trying to say is you spend 1000 doillars for example on a NA and get X kw gains

you spend the same 1000 on a turbo motor and get yourself 3 times as much gain for your buck

Get a 89 dolalr boost controller and ind it up a few PSI etc - thats NOT EXPENSIVE

good luck with the conversion mate, are you planning on doing the work yourself? i like the idea of bolting a turbo up to the RB25DE and running low boost. will still have good power off boost and be cheaper in the first place. only issue would be tuning ie what computer to use. I doubt the stock GTST ecu would work?

Do it, do it. Gatty I'm sure you'll find the tuning process a billion times better than I did, the R33 ECU just doesn't have all of the bullshit self-diagnosis the R34 has. For god sake the R34 ECU will show a fault for the stupidest reasons....it's pathetic!

After messing around with ECUs for the past year I'd say throwing the turbo ECU in and backing the timing a few degrees should be fine...looking at the diagrams for it, you should have absolutely no error codes on the thing.

Keep posting to this forum.. this is interesting.. As ive had a few friends look into converting from N/A to turbo.. one sold his car after 6 month of frustration and got a GTS-T, lost about $4000 the other mate is still looking into it..

Yeah frustration is a pain, I've had a year of it :rofl: But that's what happens when someone overseas left out loads of what they did to the car they turbocharged!!! Grrr

When the exhaust is done on my one, that's it finished :rofl:

Here are a couple of pics of what a turbo N/A look like...when I get the custom pipes done, it'll be almost impossible to tell it was N/A...only the *trained eye* will spot the variable intake, and lack of the word turbo on the engine cover ;)

i will be doing the work myself - yet thats going to be a BIG challenge for me...

ECU wise probably a wolf maybe? or even another piggy back system or maybe a stock GTS-T ECU - haven't decided yet, but i'd say I will use a standard GTS-T ecu ;)

when i get all the bits i hope to get it done in a very short time frame :D

i'm liking the idea of bolt on turbo now and rb30 bottom later on...

OK some more pictures, probably helps if you stare at the engine bay to get a feel for where they are.

The first one is the oil feed, to see where this is you'll need a torch to scope around under the intake manifold.

This one is looking down to where the AFM hose connects to the turbo, where the engine mount sits. The oil return was passed through the engine mount, to the turbo. The return end goes to a 90 degree tap that goes through into the sump.

In this picture you can see the braided oil feed hose, that goes around the back of the engine to the other side as shown in the first picture.

The water return goes to a 90 degree tap that goes into the block. The feed comes from the heater hose near the fire wall.

buy a rb25det block and put it on your NA head, then buy a turbo exhaust manifold and the turbo.intercooler you will need and u can use your non turbo ecu and get it remapped. by using a det block you will be able to run normal gtst boost with out blowing your motor, the gtst block also has the oil squirters, stronger pistons and lower compression.

damn, i assumed so - you get that done professionaly? you would have had to remove motor during the process?

helping a mate remove his blown turbo on his 33 the other day if the holes where there i reckon it'd be a fairly simple process and wouldn't even need to remove the motor...

Yeah had it done professionally, but they managed to leave the engine in the car, so it didn't cost as much as it was going too...don't ask me how they managed to do it though, it was in some very tight spaces!!! I was actually amazed!
