Well said, Merli.

Kabab, if only WSID would do this. Maybe they could trial it once a month, but there also needs to be a demand for it. I personally think that the govt has the responsibility to push/promote this in conjunction with the police and WSID. I know that Fairfield Regional Command had a WRX donated to them for this purpose (Wed Off-Street meets), but I have not seen this car since that time. It's the govt's reponsibilty to counteract the problem not just with negative measures like raod blitzes, but also by doing something positive, like assisting in the promotion of off-street meets. it shouldn't be left up to the private sector to undertake this (like Subaru's WRX donation to the police!). Pull your finger out Mr Carr.

It's been there a few times when I've been there - too bad they Highway guys cannot drive in a straight line to save themselves. 15's?!?!? WTF?!?!?

Adrian

actually, i can say i have a clear conscience when it comes to things. I wasn't picking on him for doing it, im just saying, why are the ordinary 'line drivers being bashed in the news, when that dude posts videos of it on his site and yet not a word is said? Afterall, he is meant to be a prominent figure in the skyline community, building the world's 3rd fastest (correct me if im wrong) GT-R and 4WD/AWD, building it locally too.

I'm not saying we are all perfect, god knows im not.

If you DO do something stupid on the streets (and you shouldn't, but if you chose to), atleast make sure it's completely dead =/, unlike the one's at exvitermini, you see: him taking off behind a taxi on a highway, him launching it at the lights (at sylvania i think it was) with a celica along side him, and his car looking a tad "swirvy" too. Then there's 8TH-SIN: Fishtailing it on a street where there are parked cars on either side, and spectators amongst those cars. Now, a powerful RWD car fishtailing it in that situation, kinda dangerous don't you think?

Also, the 8TH-karma video. Tearing the strips of freshly painted road markings right infront of the workers who just did them. Gives us imports enthusiasts a bad name, don't you think?

Seeing at the time there was no real place they could do all this safely, couldn't they atleast chose a place where there was a minimal risk to by-standers, themselves and other cars? (one of the GTR-700 videos was in a situation like that though, looked dead as etc).

Anyway, i'm not bashing him for doing it, he loved his car, wanted to have a bit of fun with it, as we all do.

I'm just saying that he is getting off scott free when there is evidence of him doing it, and yet the rest of the community gets slammed. But anyway, that's in the past now, and i don't feel like going on and on in the one post.

btw, i think people are getting a little confused and influenced with the japanese scene and RH9. I don't think you see them racing on public roads with other cars around (one's who aren't taking any part in it what so ever).

Sure, some tuning workshops do their tuning runs on public roads etc, but most of them are in the dead of night when the roads are pretty much, well, dead.

I think it also comes down to people's "over confidence". Them thinking they are excellent drivers, when infact, they are not. There was something about this a few years ago on telly, on a current affair, or today tonight, or something. They took a bunch of blokes in hotted up cars, one was a supposed 500kw R32 GT-R, maroon in colour (or wine red), another was an S14 i think. They all rated themselves at excellent drivers, noone gave themselves below 7/10. Anyway, as you could imagine, they all failed miserably, in their own cars.

Maybe, this is a maybe ofcoarse, the government could subsedise the costs of advanced driver training courses for car enthusiasts and those who wish to drive around in high powered vehicles, to try and make the roads safer for themselves and others? I mean, you can't expect an ordinary joe bloe to sit down in a 500kw car and drive it around like he is peter brock or tetsuya kawasaki.

Newho, enough of my ramblings for one post.

BTW, HOW BOUT SOME GOVERNMENT FUNDING TO KEEP WSID OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK? :D

    • I like it when the counter chick leads you out the back into the racks and says "have a grub around in here and see if you can find what you need. I'll be back in a few minutes. Just left me in front of a massive motorised shelving system and 2-3 million fasteners, so I could find a peculiar SS shoulder bolt with cap head. Gotta love country towns.
    • I used this https://osgiken.com.au/product/os-giken-os-250r-lsd-gear-oil-80w250-1-litre/   shut my nismo 1.5 pro up by heaps…. Not silent though. Gives the car character and personality. It ain’t a carolla. If you want silent, put a quaife in it.
    • It's about the same time for me from Bunnings, or the Fasteners. My big push away from takeaway food, and gluten in general keeps me away from the Bunnings Snags too! Weather up here, I've been out for two walks today in the beautiful sunshine. Had a few little drizzles, and some wind, that honestly, a tin of beans and I could compete on how harsh she blows Thankfully, being this bit inland, we're not getting anything much really. Will probably pick up a bit more when/if Cyclone Alfie decides to come ashore. A few areas in the GC though, and south into NSW are really getting smashed though! Right now, I'm just annoyed Alfie hasn't hit, as I'm not allowed to crack into the BBQ foods like the bacon and eggs until the Cyclone hits "In case we lose power"...
    • I love fastener joints, the price difference between them and joints like Bunnings or Super Cheap is amazing, and they either have exactly what you want, or they can get it to quick They have even given me some for free when I only needed a couple of specific size In saying this, I have paid premium for fasteners from Bunnings if they have the sizes I need, but only for convenience really, as my local is only 10 minutes away, the Sushi joint near them is also a consideration  How's the weather Matt? Stay safe mate
    • Wideband is worth setting up if only for tuning purposes. I would not mess with the ignition system unless there's a misfire. HKS crank trigger is popular out here for the relatively easily sourced Denso crank sensor, not a bad idea to install as well regardless of power level on a standalone. Boost leak test is worth thinking about. Oil pressure sensor tied to a fuel cut isn't a bad idea either. Getting the tune figured out is a good idea. Without putting eyes on it and getting under it there's no way for us to tell you exactly what it needs but most likely you're down to the last 10% that will make a big, big difference in how happy you are with the car.
