hey i got a stock(mechanically) R33 GTST and i've noticed a soft hissing sound while going over speed bumps or any slightly deepish bumps on the roads.

altho it sounds pretty cool, i heard there might be a problem with my shocks.

the car feels VERY smooth to drive, not very bumpy or bouncy.

anyone know what the problem might be?

Nah, its' not normal, its' LEAKING. What effects it will make? if its' in the rear, you can't take off properly, heaps of wheel spin...ect. Best to get it replace or upgrade because not only performance effect but when you loose the car, you won't be able to correct the car properly too.

shock absorbers have either gas or oil in them which gives them their absorbtion properties. Now any "hiss" you hear has to be gas escaping from somewhere. Once the gas is all gone it'll just slide up and down freely, either clunking on the bottom of the housing, or similar - but it won't be absorbing any bounce after that, which is their job.

It may take a while, but it sounds like it's the first stages.
