This has been bugging me for a while - i remember probably 8-10 years ago i used to see a R32 GTR getting around my area with the number plates GDZILLA or something close to that (eastern suburbs melbourne). Anyway it must of been an aussie delivered skyline being that long ago, but i remember that the outer round tail light was actually the indicator.

Most of the skylines i see today (GTR or not) have two brake lights on each side, and the small square indicator in the middle of the brake lights.

Anyway i was driving down springvale road last night and i saw a black GTR heading past the Glen shopping centre, i noticed when it changed lanes that it also had the indicator as the complete outer circle and the small square middle light was actually the reverse light.

So this got me thinking that there is probably two different tail light setups for the R32, is this correct or am i just insane?

yes there are two different setups

all imports have the twin brake lights on each side with the indicator in between and the reverse lights on either sid eof the number plate.

O-O SKYLINE O-O

aussie delivered models have indicator on the outside and brake light on the inside with the reverse light in between

O-O SKYLINE O-O

yeh I'm not a fan of the aussie delivered light AT ALL

and yeh it'd be very easy to get new lights from Nissan for the aussie GTR

Anthony, you don't always need a VIN number.... usually they can look it up with just the model (unless they're being assholes) and if it's something like trim bits where there's a few differet finishes and whatnot, a chassis number will nail it down :D
