F*cking cops!

Im gonna do a huge smokey burnout infront of the civic cop shop with no plates on screaming " I LIKE WHEEL SQUEALY'S!!!"

(or mabye not) ;)

No Mick don't do it!

They might think it was me!

I just saw a story on A Current Affair about Illegal Street racing and "hoon" behaviour... It was in Sydney but they said "the culprits are the usual young modified vehicle owners", THAT PISSES ME OFF!!! Its just like what happened to me on Friday night, so I wrote them an e-mail... Please do the same if you understand what I mean...

This is the e-mail ( I hope they read it on the show)

Dear ACA

I have just seen your story about illegal street racing and "hoon" behaviour on our streets.

I am a 22 year old male driver and I own a modified turbocharged car, I would like to say that I am a member of 2 different Australia wide car clubs and I and most other members I communicate with are sick and tired of these idiot hoons who think that the streets are thier playground, even though I love cars and driving I have the utmost respect for the law and those who uphold it, however this is a case of the minority ruining the reputation of young car enthusiasts everywhere, I cant take my car to the local shops on Friday or Saturday night without being pulled over and checked by the Police.

Thankyou for showing who the real idiots are but could you please point out that not every young person with a nice car is this stupid, as I and most of my friends have never recieved anything more than a minor speeding fine.

Yours sincerely.

No no Michael.

Everything that is on ACA is completely unblased and true.

All of us are heathens that should have all our privelages stripped and a big stamp on our foreheads saying 'detriment to society'.

Anyway back to reality

I doubt they'd read it on the show, it might start people thinking that entirety of the modified vehicle population might not actually be unsafe drivers. Can't have that.

I cant take my car to the local shops on Friday or Saturday night without being pulled over and checked by the Police.

Is that true?

Ive never had any trouble with the cops, except for when ive done something, which is fair enough

Yea thats a big Gay....

Altho i have to go with Andy on this one, i never have any probs with the cops unless in doin something wrong... My car does look diff than others and i can understand that it may stand out... but still no probs... Not that i dont agree with you Mick, Everyone gets the point at because of some remo's goin round doin burnouts..

I've had my fair share of unwanted attention when i have'nt done anything. I've been pulled over, breath checked, rego and licence checked and car checked over by a cop, with absolutely no reason, i've been pulled over for an RBT (again with no reason, the cops actually chased me down and stopped me) while one cop issues the test and the other walks around the car checking for defects, and in general the treatment i recieve from the police is terrible compared to when i drove a lancer. When im approached in the skyline im treated as a criminal and a young hoon and treated with disrespect.

Im tired of being treated like a young hoon when they have absolutely no reason to believe i've done anything wrong........then again im the one without a licence.

Newspapers/TV News programs will NEVER change their view that all younger drivers in modified vehicles are "hoons" with "no respect for the law" simply because that would be telling their prime demographic ("older" citzs) that they are wrong and might be the ones to blame.

Wonder why we never hear of older drivers in hotted up cars crashing?

Because those older drivers don't want to come home from work, turn on the news, and possibly be labled as hoons. They're above that and it's only younger punk drivers that hoon.

Mivec, I think youre on to something there, but I think that its also just the new craze with the media these days... Mabye its cos they are all old and theyre jealous that they cant be "young hoons anymore", I dunno but I am F*cking sick of being picked on just cos of my car and my age!

That's another reason i hit up the wagon, to get rid of the image i'm a 22 yr old hoon in a skyline. not the main reason, that's because i wanted a madwagon to... entertain in.

but it worked for me, i haven't had a second look by a cop yet, it's great.

Hoon - not a nice name. Very old word to use for car enthusiasts in general. Obviously it's from the oldies like me.

But I'm certain we all have names for those in the family sedans/wagons/4WD's, especially the young, old, in between and foreigners who go from A to B on or below the speed limit, endangering others by there total unawareness of others on the road - every day of their boring mundane lives.

My b!tch like most is just the plain victimisation and concentration on HPI's and the age of drivers. If your a bad driver or just a plain d!ckhead age or the car you drive does not enter in to it.

ME, well I like to give it a squirt every other day, sh!t sometimes I even like to show off and smokem up. Hell, at the lights its always tempting to moove off quickly when theres a WRX, Mazda Rotary, V8 or some other juiced up looser beside me. At these times assess the risks!

I drive my car to enjoy it every damn day. A good looking car, good sound system and the excitement factor of owning and driving a fast car.

If your speeding and caught cop it sweet. If you damage your car or die being stupid cop that sweet too.

But endagering the lives of passengers, pedestrians and other drivers is NOT on.

If you want really serious speed, serious competition and serious adrenalin rushes go to the track - it's safer for all concerned.

The little squeals from the wheels - big deal. It's generally amusing not dangerous.

:soap:

PS. Obviously before I blew the motor!

what he said, and i also agree with veilside, there is no such word "hoon" so how can you make a law on it? stupid i say and it is bullsh!t about the amount of abuse everyone gets for driving a hot import car just because there young, i could say give them the finger but they would make an even worse name for ourselves so im really quite stumped, alternatively you could always be a smart ass and just wave at them and say "nice weather isnt it?" or "how bout them nics?" (learnt that one from andrew :)) but theres only so much you can do to cop crap for nothing but if you are doing something wrong ofcourse your most probably gonna get abused for it and most probably in trouble by the po-po so i spose just drive safe and not stupid (were you may hurt someone), track be the best place to do it not down at your local shops but hey its up to you, i dont even own a car.

But I'm certain we all have names for those in the family sedans/wagons/4WD's, especially the young, old, in between and foreigners who go from A to B on or below the speed limit, endangering others by there total unawareness of others on the road - every day of their boring mundane lives.

This exactly what I'm talking about. The reason these people aren't labled "bad drivers" or "a danger to other road users" is that the people doing this tend to be the prime demographic for the 6 O'Clock news. The News isn't then going to bad mouth their main audience because face it.....who wants to come home from work and get labled a "bad driver" or "danger to others"?

But yes, Mick, it most certainly is a fad in the media to juice as much from one story before finding something else to drone on about, and nor is it a new fad. It's also the reason I no longer use mainstream media.

Yet when I pass one of these people doing 60 in an 80 zone and we make eye contact.....I just KNOW they're thinking "bloody speeding kids!"

its the hole minoraty is the majorty thing, like all lebenese ppl are dic heads its just not true, so move on. PPl will always treat us as hoons at all ages just because we have H.P.I's

(high performace imports)

They dont see the fact that we hold charity days and raise money for the disadvantaged. That we are being social instead of sitting at home playing games, and finding new bullshit storys to tell the public that we should be stopped.

Wake up Australia.........

BLOODY POOFTA's

Tis true MIVEC..

when pasin someone on the road... not even speeding ya instantly get the feeling there saying something about you.. "hoon", "Speedy" whatever... all because people just put the blame on P platers or HPI's,....stupid...

So anyways, who is out friday night?

    • Bit of a late reply here as me and my wife have been really busy with new born twins. I finally got these issues fixed and it was something really stupid that caused all of this 🤦‍♂️... After alot of mucking around with trying to figure out what is causing these issues, I back probed one of the R35 coils on the power 12v supply, with the engine running it got 25v! And I thought, hang on..., this isn't normal. Measured my battery with the engine running to check for over charge from the alternator and it wasn't that. So then I dissconnected the R35 PRP coil harness and backprobed the power supply on the engine loom where the ignition coil harness connects, with the key on ignition (engine off) it measured 30v! So then I had to trace where that high voltage was coming from and it lead me to the brown relay "ECM & IGN coil relay" inside the cabin next to the ECU on the passanger wall. This relay feeds power to the ECM and ignition coils. Tried swapping it with another same relay. nah still 30v.. coming from the 2 green/white wires in the brown relay. So then I set my multi meter to the beep continuity mode and probed every fuse on the fuse box inside the cabin to try and find this high voltage power source. Wasn't any of the fuses inside the cabin. Then probed all the fuses in the engine bay and BAM, got my power source that was a 10AMP fuse called "ENG CONT". Pulled the fuse out, and what do you know... it was blown. 🤦‍♂️  So then I quickly replaced it with a new 10AMP fuse, started the car and yeah haha [insert extreme face palm]... The RPM blimping thing went away, car idles smoothly now like what it was before. I swear! I checked all my fuses with my test light twice before I created this forum thread. I think, maybe because one side of that faulty 10A fuse lit up on my test light, I must have thought it was still ok and not blown. But now I know to have both sides light up on the test light when checking fuses... I hate diagnosing electricals.... I'd take mechanical problems over electrical problems any day🤣. Drove the car around my suburb with the engine up to operating temp and it runs fine like before. However, I notice that my fuel pressure is still at 49psi. So I'm thinking this must be normal for my system as I've upgraded the stock fuel pump to a Walbro 255L/h with a constant 12v mod.  But anyway, I'm just glad to have my daily back on the road! Thanks everyone for the replies on this thread, all sorted now! One thing I want to ask you tuner guys, my base fuel pressure on the haltech main settings are set to 43.5psi from default (my tuner must have not checked the fuel pressure maybe when tuning my car?). Do I set it to what it actually is idling on at 49psi? Or just leave it ("if it aint broke, don't fix it/leave it")?
    • The max they would go for me is 50.
    • That cannot have been a fun set of drilling. The stock "baffle" looks identical to rb26, I just cut fuel cell foam to fit the full length under the baffle.
    • I understand your sarcastic exasperation. But to be fair - the baffles do indeed fit OEM cam covers. They did omit to say that you need to do a bunch of stuff. But they do fit them.
