hey all,

got a question for you all, whats the deal with the word skyline that's embossed on the lower half of the rear of the boot on the r32. how come some models say skyline across it and some models don't? is there a difference? e.g. earlier model, later model? coz im interested in this r32, goes like a dream, but doesn't have the word "skyline" written across the back as usual which is giving me nightmares in my sleep... :O

whats the deal?

ta :O

im not sure about your question boosted, but only factory orginal bars(whether gtr or gts) have the skyline embosed, i think as a factory option you could have a light up panel thing(ask funkymonkey)

If you see on a site for bodykits and it has the skyline embosed, chances are the rear bar there selling is like a spoiler that goes on factory bar, not replaces

sorry...a bit off topic but.....have you noticed a difference with the R32s and lights

I have seen some with a lil bulb thing in the lights.....and some without

whats the story there?

the ones with the bulbs are the gtr lights and the others arent....or the other way around...

which ever one is better are the gtr lights

thanx for the input boyz...

yeh, i noticed a couple of them had differing lights as well...

to resolve those nightmares ive been having about these little details, i just bought myself an r32 gts-t with it written on the back. :eek1: phew!

i now own a skyline baby~! :burnout:

muahahahahahaaaaa....

live in glen waverley/knox, normally around those areas and the nearby

yurself?

should be cruising as of next week, got a few minor things to fix up on the car...

that, and registration and insurance would be handy... hahahaha

it's burgundy (yeh i know, its a lil boring, but can't be too choosy, not many around for sale), standards mods, e.g. gtr front bar, 3" exhaust, blitz bov, hks filter yada yada yada... but plenty more to come... muahahaha

but yeh, about another week and w00t w00t~!

yeah there was a big thread about this with a comparison a while back...

coco welcome man and enjoy! sounds sweet!

i live in the dingley springvale area... all specs on site... not really much at all

BoOsTeD_RB26,

Example 1 is the earlier model headlights without the round bulb, less weight than later model and is used in R32 N1 race cars.

Not much extra info for example 2 as I personally dont like them much (I have those and my lights are so dimm compare to others :D ), my car originally came with non round bulb lights (89 model) but changed to later headlights after repair.

I want N1 style lights!!! And an N1 RB26DETT to go with the lights! I've got crappy late model GTR lights and an RB20DE to go with it :)

Lol I've got an embossed bar AND a light up Skyline panel on top of that hehe. So when I get another R32 (which is probably what will happen) then I'm jus gonna take the light up panel with me, coz apparently it costs around $300 :D

Is anyone good with neons? I need to chuck one under the light up panel and wire it to the brakes (with an override switch), coz the old one is blown. We need to have a "service day" where we can all meet up n tinker witth our cars.

I do good audio installs, and since I now can get my hands on a tripod, I can take good pics of your car too.

Nark did you get a 3 megapixel IXUS or a 2.1 megapixel IXUS? I gots a 256mb smartcard for the camera hehehe.... I can take squillions of pics now!

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
