I didnt think the G35 Skyline could bring down the skyline visuals any more but it looks like the current 2007 GTR is even worse... so ugly... nothing compliments the other.... Looks like they've thrown on a r33 GTR wing & just expected that shape to suite, Those rims are a gay spoke pattern & It almost looks like that car wants liposuction too... ahhh man... the r34 ZTune is truly the Last GTR.

LOL... that pic is a TEST MULE! It's about as far removed from the final product as you can get.

there is no way they would have the real thing out testing uncovered this far from realease anyway i bet the car looks nothing like that and rims are generally a detail thing totally different to what you see on test mules

Yeah I know its not final product, thats why I said "current 2007 GTR" meaning what’s visible to the publics eye currently... They're not looking good so far though... I have no doubts the end results will be nothing more than another tweaked 350Z, athough it might be good in it's own right, best just to call it a Z GTR.

So if it's not the final product, why are you criticizing it? Did you know that the 'test mule' for the V35 Skyline was actually a long-wheelbase R32 4-door? You can see it at the Nissan Prince Museum. So going along with your assumption, you could've said that the V35 looks sh!t because it's too much like an R32? lol

The characteristics of the test mule - i.e. aerodynamics do count though, you must admit.

the new skyline> its been around here for about 3.5 years now ????

ps: i didnt read one post in this thread so if ive missed something just ignore this post

lol... yeah you're right Andrew but some of the replies were about the next GT-R so it's kinda 50/50.

I think they are a nice car in their own right - nice looking luxury saloon. but as for having the skyline moniker - they were always their own can, and were NEVER meant to be, or be interpreted as being a supersize version of a z car.... but they are now.

In my mind the 32-34's are the true iteration of a Skyline. 2 door COUPE. not liftback(or looking like one). But that's the way things go i guess... So long as they have the oven plate lights on the back of it, I'll still have a long hard look at it :-) I gotta say, that '07 gtr looks pretty damn hot! not to mention the engine and drivetrain specs! My dream car is still an r34 nur tho :)

Talk about splitting hairs. Ok, they're completely different, they resemble each other no more than the 300zx resembles an r32/r33/r34 skyline.

I take your point about following a design direction, but there's more to design than taking a beautiful car that was designed with correct proportions in mind, and clicking and dragging it out a bit, and whacking a few new trimmings on it. and as you said, they have an almost completely interchangeable drivetrain. yep, they're different alright!

For those of us who care, we are bitterly disappointed that not only has the styling become homogenised, but the engine is the same, and the chassis is the same, and the engine is the same!  Rotating a door handle doesn't impress us, sorry.  Very disappointing for flagship models of a manufacturer.
WHAT!!! That's a skyline? I could have sworn that was an 350Z

Err you guys do realize that the V35 was designed and released before the 350Z don't you???

After reading some of your other posts in here, especially from geno8r and slow13dude I would guess not. If you don't like the design then fine, but stop spreading a lot of BS about the V35 being a copy of the 350Z when it is the other way round.

I like the design of the 350Z... but the new skyline is basically a 350Z... i dont care which was designed first, the fact is they're both very similar cars... with different names.

Nissan has gone down the Path of car manufactures like Holden, Ford, & now Mazda. Most of the cars produced by these manufactures all look very similar... The GTO all the way down to the Commonwhore... they still 'basically' look the same. Just tweaks here & there. Mazda's 6, 3, & 2 all look very similar.... I spose its also like BMW... Theres a heap of different beamers out there & if you dont know beamers well you could almost swear they're all the same car, only the badge at the back lets you know its actually a different model. I spose my viewpoint is simply it seems kinda lame to badge a new car a with a new name as if it's a totally new car when its not really.. It's a tweak of an existing model, & Nissan never used to be like where they’re heading today. I mean Nissan produced totally different performances cars back in the days like the Silvia, 300ZX, & the Skyline. Now Nissan has the Maxima, V35, & 350Z all looking the same. I think a V35 done up does look mad, I just don’t think it should be called a skyline, visually it’s brought nothing over from the previous skyline & even the engine has now gone NA where there used to be a popular line turbo skylines with Twin Turbos or Singles & also NA’s. At least the next GTR will be TT.

That's the best you can do? That we got which copied off which wrong?

Same styling, same engine, same chassis, it doesn't matter which came first.

yep sure is one ugly car

Correct. :uh-huh:

i really liked the styling of R34 and when i first saw the r35 concept i was thinking that nissan have taken a turn for the worst (especially after they ditched the GT-R name). but as more models were released my opinion changed from "awful" to "just ohk"

i think they went soft on the styling, opting for a luxurious, european look

i much preferred the agressive, angry, sports car look of the r34

I like the coupe.

2005 version pushing out 295 HP stock and the previous versions doing 280 HP stock with low 14 second 1/4's stock I mean whats not to like.

Plus with some decent rims they uber nice.

I'll tell you what's not to like, it looks like garbage and doesn't have the previous aggression and street cred that all the previous GTR's claimed. I think the modell should be recalled and all of them destroyed, let a straight person design it next time.

Actually, the V35 sedan was designed and released before the Fairlady Z (350Z) beack in 2001, but the V35 Coupe (the which people are confusing with the 350Z) was released after the 350Z in 2003. So in actual fact, you *could* say that the V35 Skyline Coupe is copying the 350Z...
