hey guys as you probably already know the doors on a 2 door coupe are heavy, well mine have sagged a fair amount. The drivers was ok until I put on a type m side skirt. Now every time I open the door it makes heavy contact with the skirt. The skirt is mounted correctly. The passenger door is particularly bad and already hits without a side skirt.

Does anyone have any idea on how to make them sit higher?

ok.. well there are two methods.. first is adjusting the catch for the door itself:

Unscrew the two screws for the shackle, and there will be enough to move it up or down a little. That way you can adjust it up, down, by a few mm.. and this will lift the door, mainly when its closed. This may be enough to fix it, but generally it just adjusts the end point angle... the next is a little more tricky, adjusting the whole door.

you'll probably need two to do this.. but open the door fully..

you'll want something to support the door at the end handle (use a rag or something under whatever it is you're using to prop it up) underneath. Again, another person could be nice.

Then you'll have to undo the hinge bolts near the front guard.. basically they have a bit of adjustment in there, so you can slide the hinge up and down a few mm.. Whilst your mate holds the door closest to the hinges and pulls it up.. unscrew them, then this should pull the door up slightly. Then adjust the bolts back down. It may take a few times to get it right, and the bottom and top hinges all adjust how it works.

It's a bit of a bitch of a job, and can take a few hours of ****ing around, but in the end you should be able to fix it either completely, or a fair bit.

p.s. I've noticed a lot of sideskirts really don't have much room under their anyhow, the door isn't really designed to have a sideskirt lip wedged under it  Most seem to scrape.

Ok, Predator, know much abou the door lock mechanisms? My car door was damaged when at the mechanics, looked like it was pushed off the hoist with the door open and it dented the edge of the door.

Anyway the dent was fixed, but now the door sags woefully and withing about 30 ope/shuts the door locking mechanism is now damaged and i cant lock the door:(

So no i know i can adjust the door back up (though it might have been bent hinges:confused:) i just need to know how to fix/replace the locking mechanism:(

well the cheap race car fix is easy.

Jack up car near sagging door

Open door in question and put a car stand under it

really really slowly lower car until stand holds door. let it out a little further, say 2 inches.

then jack it back up....presto hinges bent and sagging fixed.

not sure if I'd do it to a road car but it worked fine for us twice now

    • Hey all, not sure how active SAU is anymore but will ask away anyways. Just wanted to get some experience on the 2008 model GTR CBA model.  I've hit that age in my life (43) where I'm like fk it time to get my dream (midlife crisis) car. Looking at importing one in and seeing if these can be reliable if the main flaws are fixed up. Plan is to keep money aside to do the following straight off the bat to future proof it: * install a stage 1 rebuilt trans with all new bits and pieces.  * install a new Bellhousing from the later model GTRs. Or potentially an upgraded stronger version like MAD or ATR. Besides the above two things and typical maintenance items anything else you'd recommend doing.   Been speaking to a few people and the engine on these are very reliable apparently. But keen on the view of the community here. Hoping to find a nice grade 4.5 with low mileage in Grey. I'd go black but swirls too easy. Look forward to your responses and feedback. Cheers
    • Do Alan and Keith work on Skylines now? I remember buying stuff from them when I owned my Ralliart Lancer a few moons ago. Definitely genuine guys and be excellent if they dealt with the skyline platform as well.
    • Hey all, I'm Gaston from Sydney's West.  I was a member on here when I was a younger lad and owned a mint R33 GTS-T. Ended up selling it and getting married having kids (yadda yadda) we all know how the story goes. Now I'm back with the intention to get my midlife crisis (dream) car ... a R35 GTR.  You'll see me about asking questions and searching the forums. Good to be back and can't wait to get back an Import again.
