he he... I don't know.. I destroyed my motor and when I had it rebuilt the problem had gone... when we pulled the motor out we discovered the thermostat was dead so we replaced it... I believe it was the thermostat causing my problem but as you have replaced yours I don't think it would be that...???

sorry I can't be more help

cheers

Nick

id replace the coil packs or maybe jusrt borrow some i know what you said up the top but there is a first for everything and i had this problem once, i was driving along and bang it sounded like a rex, i thought it had dropped a cylinder or somthing, i got home took the cover off to see the coil packs tapped them a bit and bam up and running perfect and hasnt missed a beat since. although i still keep the alan key in the car just in case so it might be one of your coil packs isnt wright.

yeh thats a possiblity but its just harder wen checking when cold cause on the rb20det i can only reach cylinders 1-3 numbrs 4,5,6 are under the inlet piping :D

i dont use the cover on there but wen it breaks down wen hot u can just play around lookin 4 fault once engine is hot, but now being the cold issue i have limted time to fault find b4 it corrects itself and drives normal,

the fault is so annoying cause it is intermittant it wont do it many days, this will sound strange but it only happens on hot days once parkd out front work 4 9 hours then wne drive it goes rexxy till engine warms up. on a cooler day it wont do it!!!!

me confussed

:( :bs!: :bs!: :bs!:

Time to bite the bullet me thinks :)

Had this problem once for approx 2hrs....

changed spark plugs, put car back together :)......

sounds like a WRX!

take coil packs / plugs etc etc out again... tighten!

SKYLINE again!

in my opinion it was just a loose connection or something I hadn't tightened properly. Obviously yours is something more serious but everything points to the coil packs so if you can be bothered buy 1 and swap it round till you find the right one........ or if your made of money just replace em all

okay wen my car is cold it goes in to sterioded rexxy mod until it gets warm mayb 5 mins driving , wen my coil pack go fualty they break down when hot so this leads me to beleive that it is not the coil packs!!!!!!

iam guessing spark plugs any suggestions any1

thanks ppls

Have you tried adjusting the tps? When it runs smoothly what idle rpm have you got. You have nothing to lose by adjusting the tps to lower the idle rpm if too high or vise versa to around 650/700 at idle. If tps is out of sinc it will give erratic readings and create hunting idle quality.

Well what i would do is, when up first start it and its missing or running on one less cylinder go through and unplug each coil 1 by 1 untill you find which one is the trouble one. You'll be able to tell which one it is because when you unplug the faulty one it will do nothing but sound the same but the others will make it sound worse, then simply replace it with a good one.

But if it is one of your coil packs, and you replace it, it wont be long and you'll have to replace them all I recon. So if you can aford it I would replace the lot with some splitfire ones(arond $650 if you shop about) or go for some seperate coils and run leads to your plugs eg: CDI type setup.

    • Clutch hydraulics are also all good, looks like a brand new slave cylinder and everything bled up well. No idea what the actual clutch is, and I don't intend to pull the box off on the floor to find out, so unless we have trouble on the dyno or at shakedown that will remain a mystery for the new owner
    • Front brakes are G4 8 pot calipers over 330mm discs with braided lines. Everything looks good, pretty sure these are off my old 350. Pads are brand new and judging from gold colour are Winmax which is what I also run on my race car, Neil and I both sourced brake stuff from Matty at Racebrakes Sydney who really knows his stuff Everything has bled up nicely with all new Motul RBF600 fluid, there were 2 loose hard line connections and the calipers were new on the car so I ended up doing it 3 times but it is perfect now
    • So, starting with the rear brakes. They look like standard R33 GTST, and will need new pads shortly (less than 5mm material, probably only 1 day left). The slotted discs (probably DBA) are near new at 18.01mm and the lines are braided
    • I clean my wheels every time I wash the car, I also clean the barrels, the only product I use on the wheels is truck wash and a pressure washer, followed by (inset your chosen name brand) wash and wax, time per wheel is probably 2 minutes total, cleaning the barrels is easy with one of these microfibre thingies on a stick from Sabco, they're also great for getting in between the front guards and body, and tight spots in the engine bay
    • An updated post here. Sounds to me like there's definitely a bit of sketchiness here.  Old mate with 10 rusting Torana's in the front yard might be more who they're focussed on. (For right or wrong).
