I have a set of Drift R 17x8 on my R32 GTR

currently running with 235/45 - but whould like to go wider (265?)

how wide can I go on these rims

17 x 8" wide rims are only good for 235 (good sidewall)

255 (i don't think you can fit on a 8" wide rim you need at least 9" to fit perfectly BUT i'm sure you can FORCE it on BUT the results will be worse using a 255 on a 8" compared to a 235 on a 8" )

265 don't even bother too big for the rims

someone else that has more knowledge might be able to spread some light

On a GTR, ditch the 8" rims and get 9" -> 10" rims , then get 275 rubber

The specs on the tyre (the tech brochure) will tell you what is the optimum and allowable rim widths for a given tyre.
