I've had my car for about 4 months and the rego will expire in about 2. I want to take the car back to Australia, can I still meet the personal import requirement of keeping the car for at least 1 year if I ship the car way after the rego has expired (like in Nov or Dec this year)?

Or do I need to do the shakken? Just feel that doing the shakken thing would be a waste of money since I don't plan on keeping the car in Japan. Want to take it back to Australia for my bro and get another car for myself.

I've only shipped cars under the 15 year rule thing... but I was under the impression you needed rego papers or insurance papers to prove you yourself have owned the car in Japan? Without rego, or shakensho how can you prove you're the owner at time of import to AU?

If I had the car for 2 years but didn't use it in the last 6 months due to rego expiring, will I still be able to ship the car?

I will still be paying for parking, would that be enough or just take the plunge and go for the shakken?

OK thanks Rezz! Do you answer PM? because funkymonkey doesn't.

lol Shan has this wierd 'ranking system' that he rates PM's with on basis of importance... if it's a kinda kinky titled PM oh yeah buddy he'll answer right away! :D hahaha
