..is always a phrased heard all the time.

Well, after selling our Skyline, Em and I thought we'd find out.

So, in following R34 and Imaccul8's footsteps i'd thought id show some pics of our weekend purchase.

Yes...its a rex.

1998 for those wondering...

This does not mean we don't like skylines, just thought we'd see what the fuss is about

So far it has:

big exhuast

Lowered King springs sitting on 18' rims

Jap spec Gearbox and rear diff.

9 button/puck (something) clutch

air pod

Dual piston front brakes

Anti-lift kit

Front Strut brace

STI intercooler sitting in the living room (no it won't do much there but will get to car soon)

Ken's given it a onceover... didn't say it was TOO bad. Apart from being the next step to a commowhore wagon

Very addictive exhaust note :)

Please still be nice to us :P

my best mate just picked up a '95 wrx, had similar mods done to it as nexus's, and it performs quite well.... the bendy bits his smaller car + awd shows my GTS-T a thing or 2, but in the straights and long corners brute skyline force prevails...

all in all its basically what you prefer, his has nice traction, smaller more nimble car, and 4 doors... mine has more power, more sleek appearance, and 2 door coolness :P

Welcome to the fold :-)

I'm sure you'll like the REX.

I must admit to being a little dissapointed with mine at first after coming out of an R34 but it was done at the time for practical reasons.

Over the last two and a half years though the REX has really grown on me for sure. Young kids still stop and look at it driving along and give a wave and big thumbs up.

I have just replaced the tyres and it is now back to how I remember it with huge levels of grip and handling (don't ever buy Sumitomos for a REX)

Skylines are still my favourite cars (or any rear drive Nissan) but these things run close.

Cheers

You gotta get off that grass Gus:jk:

Good to see you have another performance car - lets see how you like the quick reflexes that the Rex is known for...

Took a couple of die-hard Rex owners for a lap the other week & all they said about my Skyline was it's got long legs - not sure what that means as I thought it was fairly low:confused:

My mates 98 wrx runs 12.1 with very minimal mods. sti turbo , power fc , front mount , 1.2 bar. They handle awesome and the launches are rediculous. 1.6 60ft time at plex. Even a highly modded gts-t wont get near that on the street. And this stuff bout the gts-t catching up on the straights ? youd want to be packing at least 350 at the treads.

So all in all there a good car. Awesome street package in my opinion.

well, so far it is thumbs up.

The clutch is an on/off switch the ride is harsh, but both due to mods to make it go i guess.

Gotta adjust my driving.

But bloody hell, it likes corners

The long leg thing i can guess at. Maybe its the jap spec box but the whoosh of turbo lag is punctuated very quickly by gear changes. Seems much quicker than the line had.

All in all... loving it. Being a pomme and coming here in late teens I have been brought up in a hot hatch culture. This is not a hatch i know, but very close. That whole small nimble thing.

After all, getting a line sideways, you notice its a big car real quick :D

Stilll.... watch this space....more info to follow....

ebc.... ecu.... :(
