If I wanted to fit an HKS cast iron, top mount, remote wastegate turbo exhaust manifold, made for an RB25DET engine, to an RB26DETT head casting, can I drill stud holes for the 2 ports where the studs are diametrically opposite on the 2 head types? Without going into water galleries et cetera? Thanks.

Looking forward to the answer to this one.

If you were super-duper dodgy you could find someone who can cast-weld, like a large fabrication place, for the old "cut and flip"...

Do not drill the head. You have about 7 mm of alloy before you hit water. So the answer is no, dont drill. Sell you top mount manifold to me for 50 bucks and go buy a new one for the 26 motor.....

Seriouslly sell it on the forums for a couple of hundred bucks and then go buy one to suit.

Another option is to weld extra bosses to the RB26 head , mill it flat and then drill and tap . Just be very sure the fabricator knows what they are doing . End up with hybrid tart head that will take any manifold .

Cheers A .
